Default Air !

I was under my 06 Coupe and I couldn't find any openings for the air to enter the housing. The only openings I could locate are on the sides of the housing.2 small slots.Did I miss something.Maybe I can cut these slots to allow for more air.

Yes thats it. The car breathes warm underhood air. Thats why the better performing air intakes cut the shroud.

I cut holes in the nose, in the side fascias, and some in the shroud. no rain problems. Plenty of air.

remove useless underhood mat ( insulation ) and underhood air temp drops. if you have some pretty eagles, flames, mountains, or other scenes painted on your mat then hang it on your garage wall where it won't increase underhood temperature.

Pull out the two push pins that hold the bottom of the shroud to the back of the front clip and prop the shroud open about 3". I used the drain popup rods for sinks--perfect length, with the ball 'built in' to hold the shroud back. You will get only cold air thru the front grill. With a hanging down filter, Aircharger in my case, you have an ideal situation and can put the shroud back to stock in 30 seconds. 1 degree cooler air is roughly 1hp. This is at least 15 degrees cooler than with the closed shroud, and every bit as cool as any of the cut shroud mod CAIs. For my money, it was the best way to go. Benefit of K&N huge swept area--and quality, plus zero mod to car.
