Default Autocross Tires for SS Class

I have an 06 vert with the Z51 package. I got interested in autox after getting it. I used up the supercar tires already.

I bought another set of stock wheels and planned to buy a set of A6 Hoosiers just for track use. After reading through your posts, I realize they only make the R6 in the stock size. I'm not sure what to do.

One posting mentioned that a newbie might not notice the difference between A6 and R6, but I worry that that is true.

Other discussions caution about changing tire sizes because of the effect it would have on the car's geometrics. I thought I had to maintain the same tire/wheel sizes to maintain SCCA Stock classing.

1) What is a good, agressive tire I can use in SCCA Stock on the C6?

2) What tire size can I run in SCCA Stock on my C6?

As I understand the rules (which are written in rule-eze), you have to stick with stock size and offset (+/- 1/4 inch) wheels and are allowed pretty much any street-legal tires that fit on them.

The essence of the rules is that you can only change normally wearing parts like tires, shocks, brake pads, wipers, oil filter, etc. although they do allow some appearance items like wheels and catbacks.

You probably do want to stick pretty close to the original tire size, and as close to the front / rear ratio as possible. So going to, say, 245/35-18s front and 290/30-19s rear should work, both for the rules and the car. Lowers you about half an inch and keeps the front/rear ratio pretty close.

One nice thing about the Vette in stock class is that you've got a fair amount of adjustment room in the suspension, and its pretty easy to do. A degree or two of negative camber and some toe out can help a lot.

Well, thanks for the feedback. I ordered Hoosier A6 from Tire Rack.

I went with P245/40-18 (Stock) for the front and P295/30-19 on the rear.

I'm already second-guessing myself on not going to a wider, lower tire in front.

Please give us some feedback after you run, I personally think your set up is going to be great.
