Fair enough and I will be paying for testosterone's overnight charges on the wrong gaskets I told him to buy. I had verified again yesterday with another tuner that I will not name, that said the 4.03's fit. He held a gasket up to the head and said he feels the 4.03 will work and though it does protrude into the combustion chamber, it will not clip valves. I would go with the larger gasket to not have a sharp edge exposed to the A/F mix as it would heat up and be a possible cause for detonation.

I think its good that the thread had all the input that it did. I'd rather be wrong and pay 20 bucks for passing on bad info than to have had this guy do an entire install and have to pull heads off due to incorrect gaskets. Admitting fault isnt a problem for me as it is for some.

These gaskets arent in fact, interchangable between themselves.

In my defense, I have been here with my face in this the entire time having prevented some other disasters for this guy. I didnt see anyone else stopping him form going with LS2 valvesprings for those heavy valves. I only saw things get rubbed in my face. The very helpful and mature Matt has PM'ed me with a professional response which is more than I can say for other vendors. I will continue to deal with SDPC as I have in the past. Mistakes are just that and we ALL make them.

Now if someone can explain how to get that 2005 diff onto a 2006 since they're interchangeable between themselves, be sure and let me know. I'm sure the local corvette crew will have another laugh at Captree this weekend on that crappy internet info.

Hi Matt,

Sorry to revisit a thread that is old as $h!t but I am putting together the parts to install this set up on my 06 ls2 vette, I'm confused about the head gaskets, with the one you stated below what would the compression ratio be? I'm not milling the heads I got (stock vette LS3)and I'm not putting a different cam in until I end up super charging the motor.

Thanks for the help,

L76 is the RPO code for the engine GM has begun putting in a few new trucks in 2007. It is indeed a 4.00" bore and has our beloved L92 heads on it. Their head gasket (Part number 12610046 for those who want to do some hands on verification/research) has a bore diameter of 4.09-4.10" (they are not perfect round but that is the range we have measured time and time again). So why is it that the big bore diameter is good for the engineers at GM, but isn't quite good enough for this forum???

We've talked with Cometic, GM, and numerous other high performance LS engine builders and we/they all agree you need the bigger bore gasket with this setup! Richard, throw those 4.085/.040" gaskets on tomorrow and enjoy!!! I'll return those 4.030/.030" gaskets as soon as they arrive back here, with no restocking fees!

Matt
