Next ?...which head gasket
Is Cometic preferred over FelPro on a n/a install. Again, this is for '05 LS2 using AFR 205 Mongoose heads. Would appreciate part # for .040 thickness. After checking AFR's recommendations and then Cometic's, things didn't match up part # wise.

Felpro's part number is the felpro 1040. The actual compressed gasket thickness is .041" on that particlar part. The part number on the cometic .051 is C5317-051.
The felpro is like a composite of some sort. It seals really well, but I wouldn't use it if I was spraying nitrous or anything. That is where the cometic is different in that it is a MLS(multi layered seal) gasket. Basically very simlar to the stock gasket. I've used the cometic .036 and .051 thickness in the past and had no issues. Just make sure it's tq'd down properly because if it isn't it will not be as forgiving as the flelpro.
Is this on a stock LS2 build? I know AFR likes that Felpro 1040 as well because it has better quench than the stock gasket and is thick enough to where you really can't go wrong as far as quench goes.
