Default Fitment issues with Kooks header...

Yesterday I installed the Kooks 1 7/8 header and offroad 3in xpipe and they sound great with the stock catback and feel even better...only two issues I am having, one was that GM somehow had the passanger side 02 wire zip tied behind the bracket on the firewall and it took forever to get it out...delayed me some but I got it and then I am also having issues with the exhaust rubbing in two places in particular...one is the drivers side header is hitting the bellhousing and then its also hitting in the back on the drivers side where there is an aluminum heat shield...I have tried to adjust it several times and it still after some driving goes back to hitting in those same areas...am I the only one with this issue?

I was hoping to install mine this past Sat, however my midpipes weren't opened up enough to slide onto the X-pipe. I'm still waiting to hear from Kooks and will call again Tues.

When I was researching headers, I read about fitment issues and other problems with Kooks. I went with a different manufacturer for this reason and they bolted right up with no real problems. I understand that once you get the fitment issues worked out the product is a good one. Good luck, I am sure you will be satisfied once the bugs are worked out.

For what its worth people have reported fitment issues with LGs, kooks, Dynotech, and ARH. I went ARH and there is a spot on the starboard side where the header comes up close to the seam at the forward end of the tunnel. Mine barely cleared this and I trimmed it a little so I wouldnt have to worry about it rubbing there. At least they had a warning in the instructions saying that it would be very close in that spot and trimming might be required to clear.

I installed 1 3/4" kooks with high flo cats and Corsa sport on my 07' C6 A6 Z51. It's been 20 years since I turned a wrench on a car, but after reading the many posts I decided to take this on. The hardest part was jacking the car up high enough, with a floor jack and stands, to get the clearence (19"). It took about 8 hours for me to install the kooks headers, high flow cats, Corsa sport exhaust and Vararam Snake Charmer. Everything went as easy as advertised and without a second pair of hands. I'm extreamly pleased with the results. Last week I had a ZO6 cam installed with a street HP Tune, HOLLY CR@#!!. I'm schedueling a dyno tune with O2 sencors for next week to squeez the last few HP out and will post the results.

1-3/4 LG Pro here no problems at all. Fit was perfect. No experience myself with Kooks. Friends locally have them, no problems either. 1-7/8 gotta be a tighter fit than the smaller ones however.

You can dent the tube slightly if you are worried about it, won't hurt a thing other than the looks. You guys haven't lived until you have put headers on a DOHC Mustang. Torch and hammer required.

What is the benefit of going with the 1 7/8 over the 1 3/4 kooks (or other headers)

Would seem to me that without some sort of Forced Induction that the larger headers would cause a loss of low end TQ. You may get it back in the upper RPM HP range but I doubt it. Do people put on the 1 7/8 b/c they are going to super charge or turbo the application and the larger pipe is needed to get the exhaust out?

well after doing lots of research I decided to try and go for a little more out of the car with the 1 7/8th but now maybe this is why they don't fit so well...its not terrible but I don't like having a rattle on a 50+k car...

I have Kooks 1 7/8" with Hi-flow cat X pipe and stock mufflers. No fitment no codes and lots of power with the addition of LPE CAI and a tune (378 HP, 380 TQ)

I do have drone around 1500 - 1900 RPM which Corsa will cure later this summer.
