Default gm ceramic brake pad replacement question

Hi, i am in the middle of replacing my stock brake pads with the gm ceramic pads (z51 car). front replacements went very easy thanks to the posts on the forum. question about the backs. the gm ceramic brake kit comes with a set of two "shim-like" items that look they should be one put on each of the brake pad backs, but it comes with only two of the pads, not four. does anyone know which pads these attach to? any immediate help is appreciated. btw, the numbers on the bag that the shim-like pads were in are "ECH 288" "SHK144" and "010303"
thanks,

jim

Put them on the rear pads. If you look closely at the OEM pads, you will see them on the back pads.

Dave, they shims came with the new back pads, but the box only came with two shims, not four (one for each pad like the oems have). to get the job done, i pulled the shims off the original pads and used them.

thanks

They are meant for the outside pads (the ones on the side opposite the caliper pistons). However, I did not see them in the box (I just did ceramic pads last weekend) and installed without them ... no rattles or such I can detect, so I don't plan on tearing the barkes apart a second time ...

Guys, as always, thanks for the help. brakes are done, seated properly (i think, per the instructions on the forum), and so far, quiet.
