Ok, still fighting with this damn bug! Have given up on other things I was going to do and I am down to adding a shifter , thinking about the callaway. Have read some posts that it will be harder to shift in gear. This could be a prob for the wife. She is a little lady and might have a prob with it. ( let her drive the other day and now she is hooked!) Any input on this is welcome.
You can modify the stock shifter to shorten the height by about an inch and shorten the throw to appx 3-5/8" to 3-3/4" without even removing the shifter from the car. I cut appx 0.6" from the shifter shaft (using a hacksaw and plastic sheet to catch the cuttings), then installed a round Momo ****. It's still very easy to shift, but the combination of **** and shorter shaft gave me the reduced height and throw as stated above.

thanks !
Same issue at our house.
I went ahead with the Callaway and love it. My wife rarely drives the Corvette, but I know it is going to be a bit of a learning curve for her. The Callaway short throw takes some effort to go into first, second, fifth, sixth and reverse. It feels much more solid that the stock shifter and is a good upgrade, but it is an adjustment.
Try to find and aftermarket short throw to drive and see what you think. The alternative is to risk upsetting the little lady.
All short throw shifters are harder that stock. It's purely physics - less leverage. My wife commented that my Calloway was a tad more stiff. So what? Who's car is it anyway?
I recently switched to Royal Purple SyncroMax. Seem a tad more easy.

I put the Calloway in my 05 C6 .... no issues at all .... my wife thinks it is easier (who knows) .. to me it is "tighter" but not significant and no problems getting into any gears - perhaps people who have this problem didn't set the lashing correct on the stops.
