Default Installing C-6 Rear - View Mirror

Just looking of a little technical advise/assistance on the proper method to remove/install/replacing the inside-rear view mirror in a 06, C-6. How to 1. Remove/dismount the current rear view mirror correctly and 2. install ( I assume it's just the reverse of 1. ) the new unit. Purchased a new unit unit with auto dim/compass to replace the standard manual dim unit.

Thanks in advance

Turn it a quarter tun and the cam lock lets it come off.

Default GM mirror part # help?

Is it possible for you to give me a GM part # for the mirror you are changing to. I have the basic mirror also and tried to search the auto dim/compass upgrade at the dealer but to no avail. Did the wiring harness plug right in on th eupgrade? Everything work ok now that you have the new one on? This is great assistance if you have been through this already! Thanks!

Default Auto Dim mirror

Let me look it up for you, and get back, to you,, in a day or so. I would agree it was not very clear which auto dimming mirror, worked correctly with the C-6 05-06 and now 07 Vette's . Apparently their are some differences between the units concerning the years? As I understand it, the 06 has an indicator light regarding the passenger air bag being on or off? that the 05 version of the auto dimming mirror does not have. I am expecting the unit to just plug in, the wiring harness appears to be universal, ie, manual dim vs. auto dim and have notice a few forum members have indicated pretty much the same, in their experiences.

I have not installed the new Auto Dimming Mirror unit yet, my vette is out of town , getting a few mods to it , at Lingenfelter's facilities in IN., don't expect it back until later June. Most certainly happy to keep you posted if I have any issues installing it, etc.

that is greatly appreciated. Mine is an 06 M6 Vert, and yest there are many different versions of mirrors. Mine also does have the AIRBAG ON/OFF indicator in the mirror as you mention. Your help is appreciated and i am envious that you are getting LINGENLFELTER...ized!!! SAw one of their mods here in NY on a Vert and it was just awesome down to every detail. I will look forward to hearing from you on the mirror.

Default RE: GM Part Number

It appears ( Their are 6 different mirrors they list with GE Part Numbers for the 06 Corvette ). The Auto Dimming Mirror, without? On Star,, appears to be Part Number # 15218749[/B on this unit I have. However,, I would most certainly contact with one of the Forum sponsors,, who sells GM Parts, and recheck this information with one of them.to be sure. Good luck on this..
