Default Wheel/Tire Size? Recommendations?

I am going to buy some black wheels for my white vette. Should I go with the stock size as to not mess up the speedo? Also if I do a wheel tire combo what is the max width I can go without being past the fender? Any input or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.....Craig

I am a big fan of the 'look' of super wide wheels/tires on the C6 but I'm also able to appreciate the convenience, weight and cost savings that the smaller stock sizes can allow as well.

Cost is not a big factor. I am leaning toward the PS2's and I hear that they run wider than other tires the same size? I am looking at getting the C6 motorsport wheels in (2)18x8.5 and (2)19x10. I wonder if the 265's up front and the 295's rear would look good? I understand that this would be close to a 275/305 look since the PS2's are wider? Is anyone running this setup or one close to it?

You need to keep within a certain percentage of the stock wheel diameter or it will mess with the ABS. Cant recall the number but someone should chime in with it. Another consideration is that I would not choose a tire that is smaller in diameter if you dont want to lower the car. I have the 305 PS2s and they are a half inch smaller. Doesnt seem like much but looks like more on the car when you look at the added space in the wheelwell. Looks fine if you lower the car but if you dont want to then you have to live with the added 4x4ish look. I lowered mine a little even though I did not want to do so. Also if you change the relative ratio of tread on the road front/rear this will affect your cars balance as far as understeer/oversteer

Go big wider or taller if you want you can go 325 out back if you do the correct offset, LG has a nice combo that you can run Z06 rubber on your C6.

Fact: the C6Z tire sticks out of the fender no matter what wheel or offset you put it on

go a 18x9.5 and a 19 x 11 with 265/295 tires. you will end up with exact front and rear height ratio

That hasn't been my experience. A friend of mine and I both have the exact same aftermarket wheels (18"x 9" front, 19 x 10.5" rear - exactly .5 " wider than stock). For awhile, we both ran stock C6 size tires; he with the OEM Goodyears, and me wth Michelin PS2s. His had OEM look to the sidewalls, whereas mine were clearly stretched to fit the rim bead. IOW, they were narrower, not wider.

It hardly seems worth the trouble of changing wheels and then staying at stock size. Also, for the reason stated above, they will be closer to the look of a 255/275 combo. This dog won't hunt in any event, because the only 295 x 19 tire Michelin has available in PS2s is a 30 profile, which is almost a full inch shorter OD than stock.

I finally gave up on the PS2s and went to BF Goodrick KDW-2s. It has been a good decision so far.

BTW, here a link to the online Tire Size Calculator if you want to plug in various size combinations.

Stay with OEM sizes. Maybe one size wider.

One more question. I found a pair of black wheels that are 18x9.5 and 19x11. I still have quite a bit of tread left on my supercars. Can I use my stock tires on the 1" wider wheels for awhile until I need new ones? Will it work ok? Will I have any problems? I just don't want to buy tires yet if I don't need them? I appreciate all the input. Also on those 325's in the post above me. What kind of fender flare/ splash guard is that? Looks nice!!

That's if the 9.5's are +57mm and the 11's are +79mm (stock offsets) Also, it should be 265/35/18 and 295/30/19 from what I've been told.

I would like to go with the 265's up front and 295 or 305 out back when I replace tires but will my stock supercars fit the 1" wider rim with no problems until then? Has anyone tried this? Are there any tire guys out there? Thanks.....Craig

I was also told that they would work. However, they would balloon out slightly due to the extra width.

Search in the C6 for sale section for the search term hyperblack. Look in the threads started by LAPD and there is a picture of the ace slicks with the stock tires on a wheel similar to what your contemplating. Doesnt really look right to my eye but apparently works.

Why do you think that what do you see that I dont??? Look up those looked tucked in to me???

Hmm do you think these 325's stick out? my combo sticks out way more and it does not rub so these look great to me.

Not sure what rims you have or what offset you used but to have 325's tucked in that well is pretty impressive!! I should have no problem tucking some 295's or 305's under my fender then with a 11" rim. Just hope I can figure out what offset I need......Craig

Those do look awesome. I'm assuming the rears are 19x11, what are the offsets??

I ended up with 255/40/18 KDW's on 18"X9.5" wheels since there were no 275/35/18 available when my wheels came in and the tires needed replacing. Fits and drives OK but doesn't look quite right, the 9.5" wheel is too wide for a 255 sidewall.
