Default Aps

Dynotech in Fort Wayne Indiana installed the APS twins on my 06/A6 in December of 06. I have been completly satisfied. The power is amazing. I have put around 4000 miles on the car since the install no problems so far. It is VERY important that the computer tune is done on the motor and trans. Without it be very afraid. Dynotech is top notch and the install looks factory. My car has 507hp and 512 ft lbs torque at 7lbs boost. Phil likes to keep the automatics down but many manuals or pulling 600hp and up. You may want to post in the FI and Nitros section for more input.

APS TT kit installed about 2 months ago.
My car is an A6 netting 557rwhp/542tq. Also have a cam and APS 3" exhaust as well.

Car drives awesome to say the least! Pulls and pulls very hard as the tq curve is fairly flat for a F/I car. Check out dyno graph on post #12 of the following link:

You are only a few hours from LAPD in Chatsworth, CA. They have done many of the APS TT C6's and are great to work with.

So I see the lingenfelter one is 25k installed.

Looking at the STS kit though its 9k, does anyone know how much a quality install is?? I mean i understand the difference in the 'name' but horsepower wise its the same, and if installation is only like 5k, then its not worth the extra 10k(to me) for just the added warranty on the parts...

also WHY is the supercahrger lingfelter SOOOOO MUCH cheaper for the same horses???!??!

Lastly, the only thing I'm worried about is reliability. I plan on having this car for atleast 5-6 years and its daily driver, which i will be putting prabably between 10-15k on a year. Is the car still reliable?
Your best bet would be to drive both cars and evaluate for yourself the difference between the power delivery road manners and such, after all it/will becomes an expensive hobby. The LPE kit is much like the APS system as were the Incon kits. We have a forum member (Bruce...I forget his screen name), he lives near Phoenix and I'm sure he would gladly take you out for a spin on his C6 APS car. Hopefully you can locate a STS owner (even a C5 platform) for comparison.

I considered the STS kit prior to my APS purchase, I've test driven a friend's STS C6 several times and I simply didn't like the off-boost driveability, it felt laggy until around 3500prm when boost sudden came alive. On the flip side, you can ask anyone of the forum APS owners, the APS turbos spool from the get go and keeps pulling......very HARD if you've got the GO pedal planted! What I do like about the STS kit is the ability to swap to a larger turbo frame size being where the hardwares are located. If I were looking to hit the 9s, drop a single 76mm.

I can tell you exactly how much I was quoted for an STS install (standard turbos) out the door using the startup tune; $13,760. This also includes a turbo cam- LPE GT2-3, the reason being I wanted quicker spool time to compensate for the low end lag and upgrades to the valve springs and retainers. Just a comparison the APS kit would be in the same ballpark or less, depending if you decide to upgrade your clutch...since you didn't state if your car is an auto or manual.

If you go with the APS kit, I'd say upgrade the clutch at the same time. I say this only because if you do it after the kit is installed you will need to drop the manifolds, turbos, and down pipes to get the clutch in... much easier to do before hand.

STS twin. Tuned it a few days ago. Done a few STSs, this was the first twin. Seems all the STSs stop flowing a certai point, no matter what. Guess its all the plumbing? Not really sure. This was a touch over 8 PSI. Couldnt gain anything up top, but check out the gains a 4000 rpm!
First pull was the predator tune it came with.
