Default Corsa/Kooks question

Hope someone can give a little advice. Have brand new '07/A6. Am ordering Corsa Sports and a set of Kooks LT's. Will be installing a
160* thermo also. I have heard a number of conflicting ideas on tuning. I am going to have a tune after this install but at another shop.
1. Is it o.k. to drive the 7 miles or so to the second shop for the tune and not have to worry about hurting anything?
2. Also should I go ahead and get a set of low restriction cats at the same time or are the stock cats good enough?
3. Am thinking of a later install of the QTP Electric cutout, anybody with posatives/negatives on this item with this setup or a similar one?

NOTE: Will be going for the LPE 366/500H.P package in the future

Thanks in advance for any input as you guys certainly know your stuff! Am learning a lot but ther's so much to learn and of course I need to add stuff right????!!!! MUST GO FAST!!

If your planning on Kook's with Sports, then you need the 6600EX headers with the 6115CC cats ( special set up designed between Kooks and Corsa) to make it all work with the Corsa 14167 and the A6. I just installed the same system and with a Callaway "Honker" and 160 stat and plan a tune at the end of June. Everything is running fine at the moment.

Thanks VetteMan, was just concerned I might goof something up in the short drive. Thanks for the numbers also. I had the Corsa # already and now with the Kooks #'s I'm set. Are you planning a dyno also? And if so please post results when you do it. I'm getting a before and after Dyno as I chose Speed Inc. I have heard a lot of good things about them and there a couple a miles away. I chose this setup for the very reason that I understood that Corsa and Kooks have a tie in to make it all work better than it can somtimes with other manuf's. Can't wait till middle of July!!

Just to let you know that you can not use the stock cat with long tube headers, they won't fit also the high flow cats are located farther back.

Not sure if you will hurt anything driving a few miles to the next tuner. I think the computer will adjust for the air/fuel ratio enough for you not to hurt your car.

Thanks. You jogged the memory bank. I'm pretty sure that there was a post/thread a while back with that info. MORE TOYS!! Well this should be an easy one to explain to the better half: But really babe I don't have a choice, I have to..... Seriously, great to get this kind of help.

With what you're doing, don't worry about driving it to your tuner. Since you aren't R&Ring your cam your idle will remain the same. You woun't even notice the difference. I hope your better half likes noise, because that's what your going to get with corsa sports, and with an auto trans, you'll get a pretty good dose of drone or cabin noise at cruise say 70 mph. Remember loud doesn't translate to performance, it just means loud. Becareful what you wish for. Kooks are a good choice for headers, I have them myself. The entire system, XPipe, and cats fit just like a factory piece. I've used a 160 stat in all my LS type motors since 1999. Never had a problem. I'm currently running a stroked L92 427ci motor in my 05 C6 with a 160 stat. Motor makes 525rwhp, runs at 180-183 degrees No issues. Good luck with your project.

1. Is it o.k. to drive the 7 miles or so to the second shop for the tune and not have to worry about hurting anything? There's no problem driving the car, especially only 7 miles. I waited about a week and had no problems, no codes after a couple of hundred miles. Sometimes, the headers can throw a CHECK ENGINE light but the tuner will fix that problem anyway.

2. Also should I go ahead and get a set of low restriction cats at the same time or are the stock cats good enough? As said by C6VetteMan, your stock cats can't be used on a Kooks header setup. The part numbers in csun213's thread (6600EX & 6115CC) are exactly what you need. The Corsa system for the A6 will have resonators in the H-Pipe to help offset drone, otherwise most MN6 folks get the Sports with an X-Pipe.

3. Am thinking of a later install of the QTP Electric cutout, anybody with positives/negatives on this item with this setup or a similar one? Can't help you on this one.

Same as Fast Fun said pretty much.

There really isnt any negative with a cutout. The only thing to really worry about is if who ever does the welding does a decent job and they dont leak. Otherwise it's a win win...

A.G., agree that I'll be noisier but should be o.k. with the wife as our summer ride for the last 12 years has been an all original '69 HEMI Charger R/T with standard steer., brks. and 4 speed. Talk about loud even with standard exhaust. basically a BEutiful and fast tin can!!!
Great to hear that you have what I will be getting and you're basically happy. 525 rwhp!!! Awsome #'s. Now I won't be in your leauge but the 366 pkg. should be o.k. For a while.......

Thanks Dave, heard about welding being VERY important. Know some good techs in my area who should be up for the job.
