More FAST questions
1) How are the three sections normally sealed? Mine looks like there is a siliconce sealant between the layers. Is this normal?
2) I did not get the any bolts with it. For the bolts that hold it to the engine, will the stock OEM ones work? For the bolts holding down the valley cover, I know the OEM ones are too high. Has anyone tried to grind the heads of these bolts down to stop them from interfering with the bottom of the FAST? This seems like a simple solution for me.
I've been reading what I can find for info on here and also had some advice from SpinMonster
I still am not done with mine yet but I will post what i have learned, the Lingenfelter MAP kit came today with out directions so I am not 100% sure how all those pieces come together. (correction; take a look at the sweet detailed silver devil engine midway down, save the pic and blow it up and you can see the detail for the MAP sensor http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1731083) My intake came assembled already, the three piece all come together like a sandwich with the gray on top and the obvious black piece on the bottom. From what i was told by a forum sponsor the corners have black RTV around the corners and other places holding the pieces together so taking them apart is not a good idea especially if purchased new. The intake is also held together with shorter allen head bolts around each end of the intake. As far as re-using hardware i was told to use the supplied replacement bolts that attach the manifold to the block. (see photo, stock seems longer???)
The button allen head bolts came with mine, so if you get them you take the intake off replace all of them except the one towards the throttle body inlet under the PVC valve, its the tube coming out of the 'valley pan' you will notice it when you take off the intake.
replace the LS2 fuel injector o-rings (orange) with LS1 (black) I have been told that they will fit the intake much better, I bought the kit from a chevy dealer in vegas for 18 bucks because it was sold as a kit and had all of the o-rings not just the bottoms.
I cant comment on the fuel rails since its not going back on yet.
Also you will need to plug one hose adapter on the rear of the intake,(to the left of the sensor hole, underside) in addition the sensor hole that needs to be plugged which is taken care of with the lingenfelter kit.
The FAST kit I bought also came with eight new manifold runner gaskets (orange) and a 90mm throttle body gasket (orange)
The instructions if supplied are not very good for our application and if you wish to order the 'harware' there are several venders who sell the intake that should be able to get the 'hardware' kit or gasket kit
Use the removal instructions from ls2portworks.com, it helped me out quite a bit. (lots of tips and photos)
I posted the pics for feedback good/bad to help out the next forum member.
Also what bout paint? thae paint I used seems tacky after a week, any brands/tips? thanks
Good Luck!

Note stock vs. FAST bolt

I was also thinking of painting mine black, what brand/type of paint did you use? I know there is paint made just for plastic (I think it's for poly propylene & poly ethylene) but since the intake is not this type of material I was going to use a higher heat paint in a glossy finish.
Can anyone suggest a better choice?
The orange gasket seal between the top and middle section had silicone applied at all the corners (where 3 pieces meet in a Y formation), to me this seal should not have any additional silicone, can someone please confirm one way or the other?
In between the middle and lower section there was no gasket, but around the ports also had black silicone on it, is this correct?
Thanks in advance.

Also TTT for paint? where to buy/kind? any help?
Thanks
For paint I used Tremclad Hi-Temp gloss black, it turned out great looking and was dry in two hours. I also sanded off the Wilson but left the FAST logo.
I drilled out where the MAP relocation disk goes as that had not been done yet. I can see from the bottom of the FAST that the previous owner did not change the valley cover bolts as they marked the underside of it, but no cracks. BTW, it looks like only 8 actually touch the underside, 4 on each side.
I will start the removal of my stocker and the prep for the install of the FAST tomorrow.
So far so good.
