I auto crossed my c6 this sunday and did ok, however I notice that I am getting alot of wheel hop. I would like to improve the traction a bit, I have the Z51 package, what scca approved mods could I use to get a bit of better traction.

I also have the Z51 package, but with the A6. I also run autocrosses and have yet to have any wheel hop. However, I do get occasional wheel hop at the drag strip if it's cold out. I have read on this forum that people have gotten rid of wheel hop going to the Bilstein Sport shocks and that would still be legal for Solo 2 stock classes.
Wheel Hop as I am describing it is when you loose traction the wheel bounces up and down quickly. I know on solid rear axles people will use traction bars to reduce it, however I am not sure with IRS
I have a Z51 that we put Bilstien Sports on, lowered the ride height, and put Ps2s on it.The runflats have a stiff side wall. It now doesn't have any wheel hop.
The path to eliminating wheel hop involves being smoother with the throttle. It is abrupt stabs of the throttle that provoke the onset of hop. Replace that motion with a squeezing motion and hop will generally disappear.

Ranger is right. Wheel hop results from loosing traction and exciting the system. No spin, no wheel hop. Anything you can do to eliminate spin will reduce wheel hop. Smooth application of the power up to the limit of traction is the secret. Stickier tires will increase the amount of power you can apply. Changes in shock/springs etc may change things, but you are still dealing with low unsprung weight, and you will still be able to find a combination of power application and surface/traction that will result in hop with an IRS car. Results will vary with power level, tires, surface, and driving technique.
My 99 Cobra was a test mule for one of the aftermarket half shaft suppliers. I have some experience with wheel hop and halfshafts.
i have a o6 z51 no problem here the right touch of the throttle/clutch will take it right out {as ranger said}man this car loves that cooler air too..got squirlly on me going to 2nd.lost alittle traction but man was it great..with that air temp about 58 it felt like i had about 50 more horse
