Default "Service Active Handling" in DIC

Going around a corner and got this message in the DIC and lamp on instrument cluster.

Thoughts?

Any common issues anyone is aware of?

Easy fix without taking it to a dealer?

Did some searching.

Steering column angle sensor? TSB?

Anyone got a copy of the TSB 060235002A?

Found it...

Hope this helps someone...thanks to whoever posted it to the Forum originally....

I will try this fix tomorrow...shouldn't take very long to do...

TSB 06.02.35.002

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C0710 Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SWPS) Signal, Service Stability System Message on Driver Information Center (DIC) (Inspect and Secure Wires in SWPS Connector)

2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette

with Steering Wheel - Tilt, Telescoping (RPO N37)

Condition
Some customers may comment on a Service Stability Message on the DIC.

Diagnosis with a scan tool may reveal a DTC C0710.

Cause
The most likely cause of a DTC C0710 on a vehicle equipped with telescoping/tilt steering wheel is high resistance in SWPS connector C202. Fretting terminal corrosion maybe present in the SWPS connector due to the telescoping motion of the steering column. When the steering column is telescoped in and out, the female terminals within the SWPS connector may move on the male terminals of the SWPS. This movement between the terminals may cause a high resistance condition in the SWPS connector.

Correction
Remove the driver's side close out panel.

Notice:

• Failure to properly tape the wires in the connector may result in additional concerns.

• Failure to use a small plastic strap 2.5-3.5 mm (0.10-0.14 in) in width may prevent the SWPS connector from properly seating, resulting in additional SWPS DTCs.

Using electrical tape (1), tape from the plastic strap up the wires a minimum of 2.5 cm (1 in).
Install a small plastic strap (2) 2.5-3.5 mm (0.10-0.14 in) wide around the SWPS sensor connector so that it retains the wires to the connector as shown.

Important: Install and remove the SWPS connector a minimum of three times to remove any possible terminal corrosion.

Reinstall the SWPS connector.
Reinstall the close out panel

Did this TSB tonight...

Went for about a block test drive and seems to have fixed it...

Pics attached...

Connector is 4 conductor...very cheaply made...

Here's my interpretation of the TSB fix (didn't have a pic). I also suggest putting the zip tie connector to the side not the face as it interfered with the alumunum housing and I had to cut it back to get the connector to fit on the sensor easily again.

Here's the connector re-plugged into the steering angle sensor....

Hope this helps...

On my car it was the rheostat at the base of the steering column that tells the computer where the wheel position is. Tech said it was a common issue and had the part in stock. Never had a connection issue but zip tied it anyway.

Yesterday I had this Svc Active Handling system on the DIC along with the chimes and illuminated sybol on the dash. After sitting off for apprx 20 mins, when I started the car things were normal for 10-13mins, svc msg chimed in again. I'm on a short road trip 240 miles from home. It's intermittent and I call the 800 number asking if immediate attention needed or wait til I got home. Wasted call. Today it came on twice before fuel stop went away then back again then and rest area. Stayed off remainder of trip. This happen a few weeks ago after during a stop bumpy road, came on but always reset. Have seen others mention this and wondering what you all did for a solution to resolve. Owners manual says not worknig and take to dealer, nothing said when intermittent. Any info greatly apprecaited.

Get this fixed. Take it to the dealer. The TSB is simple, and there is no reason NOT to get it fixed. You do not want Active Handling acting up.

I have the same problem on my 07 Z06. I wanted to have a look on your pics before I repair it by myself. But it seems their not longer available anymore. Does somebody still have them?

Thanks a lot for your help.
