Anybody heard of this setup?I'm watching HORSEPOWER TV and they put new gears in a stang. This particular setup has a switch that allows changes for drag strip and road course. The strip setup is giving both wheels power for better launches, the road course allows each rear wheel to act on it's own, depending on the turns, etc. Is something like that aready in our vettes??Thanks.
its one of ARB's air powered locking differentials. They've had them for awhile but there are limited applications mostly in the 4x4 world. They use an air compressor to engage the diff making it basically a spool. Then they can disengage it to make it run like a standard diff. They are expensive and have mounting challenges (air tank, air compressor, air lines from diff) but its a cool product.
Something like that. We have a mechanical clutch type limited slip differential that applies power to both rear wheels and an electronic traction control/active handling that brakes a spinning wheel.
Locking differentials are only good for drag strip and extreme off road.
I figured someone here would know!!!Thanks. They way the show made it sound is easy.Just put the gears in and the switch inside the car and thats it.I think they went up to 3.73's in the stang conversion.Sounds like an intersting setup.I always hesitate on gear swaps because of top end loss and wearing out engine parts sooner than normal.
