Default Oil Check

Is Mobil 1 5w-30 and the Mobil 1 M1-113 filter. Six (6) qts. for the Z51. Is all of this still correct? Also, there are (2) different Mobil 1 labels. Which one is the right one . . . "Regular" or "Extended Performance"?

I believe you need 6.5 quarts.

If you go with the regular filter just check the viscosity of your oil a little sooner. The Oil will outlast the filter usually and you can typically get away with changing out the filter twice for every oil change (but make sure you know what oil is supposed to look and feel like so you can tell if it's time to change or not)

6 qts for the Z51 and 5.5 qts for non Z51

I would never change just the filter and not the oil. Your under their anyway why not just change the oil and spend a few extra $ and do it right. I've heard of owners doing the opposite, change the oil and not the filter.

Regular is the one.

I'm not going to recommend a filter because there a lot's of good ones but remember your 07 takes a different filter than the 05-06.

Mobil 1 M1-113 is suppose to be the number for the '07.

No difference in "qrt quantity" from '05 to '07 Z51 6 speed manual's correct? Don't know why there would be any anyway.

The correct amount is 6 qts for the Z51 and 5.5 qts for the non Z51. This subject has been discussed many times and everyone seams to get a different reading on their dip stick and end up putting in different amounts. Personally I put in the recommend amount. (6 qts) That is about 1/4" above the top hole on my dip stick. GM recommends the regular Mobil 1 but a lot of different oil's are OK and are personal preference.

The correct oil is the "regular' Mobil 1, meets GM4718M requirements.

Check the back of the label on the can of the "extended performance". If it doesn't have the GM4718M OK, don't use it.

using the gm standard of oil is actually not the best oil for engine protection. only benefit of using gm requirement oil is emmission / longer life for cats & no issue with any warranty claim. these gm friendly oil are Gf-4 cert. you will noticed the high end europen vehicle like ferrari & porsche calls for non gf-4 oil.
