Installing longtubes next weekend and figured i'd do wires at the same time.
Searched online and can't find MSD 8.5mm dedicated to ls2 corvette, are they the same as ls1? same w/ accel.
should i do plugs too? which ones are you using?
Snake Oil - save your $ unless the wires are cracked
However if you are dead set on getting them I used MSD's on my 01 Z28 and they were great. You can bend the boot above the spark plug in order to clear the headers.
If you put on headers you'll change your tune. With ARH on my Z06 I had about 1/8" clearance between one plug wire and a header tube. With bendable MSD's it's more than 1/2"
All wires do what they are suppose to do. Changing a set of spark plug wires only to try get more power is a waste of time and money. They are firing or they are not. Resistance is more of a factor. MSD's are nice if you use a fiberglass shield to replace the factory one. You can get by without them for a while but eventually with no shield it will burn through.
.....The reason I purchased the Taylor wires is because of the extra silicone around the wire, 11.4mm in dia. On top of that I used the Taylor fiberglass heat shield socks. It's great insurance because my headers glow red hot at 7500rpm and 14 psi of boost. The last thing I need is a burned wire arcing on the header at full boost.
.....You can see the stock wires are decent because of the alum shield to protect the wires from the headers/manifolds. The fiber glass Taylor socks do the same covering even more of the wire and also have the benefit of not being a conductor and possibly contribute to arcing.
1st pic is with Taylor 409's with fiberglass socks.
2nd is factory with aluminum heat shields.
3rd set is the factory 7mm truck wires I'm using now until my Taylors arrive...

I have headers
also had headers on my Supercharged TransAm and used stock wires on that as well with no problems.

I use Taylor's. They have recently come out with an LS2-specific kit. This kit has the coil-pak ends factory made, and wire lengths of approx 36". It's the only kit I've found that has wire lengths long enough for a custom installation. I have coil relocation brackets, and even the MSD wires for a truck applications were too short. Pretty darn pricey at $150-ish.
