Default ceramic brake pads

I just had new ceramic brake pads installed on my 2006 C6. After i week the brakes started to squeal. The dealer says this is common. Has anyone else had this problem and should it be happening in the first place.

I've had mine on for about 2 weeks and no weird sounds are coming from them. Did the install use the anti-squeal insulators? My kit came from GM for front and back and I didn't get the insulators for one of the sets. We had to remove the insulator from the old pads and transfer it to the new ceramic pads. No dust and no noise from my ceramic pads.

Nope. Check for the backing plate insulators and adhesive.

take a look at the thread that i started a couple of days ago about my impressions of the ceraminc brakes. good discussion on brake squeal. when i first put them on and seated the pads they were very quiet, now i get occasional squeal with the ceramic pads.

Were the insulators installed on all of the pads? I'm on ceramic pads and they are quiet.

Elmer,

sorry to sound dumb, but are you talking about the "soft backing material" that came with the back brake pads? I did not install them, rather i took the shims off the original brakes and used them (if this is not what you are talking about, sorry about that). the front brakes did not come with anything other than the brake grease.

thanks in advance for the help.

Yup, that's the stuff. That soft backing material is supposed to go on the pads. It stops the squeal. I only got it for one set off the pads so I had to reuse the material from the pads that I removed from the car. Not using that material could be your source of brake noise.
