This is my first time C6 post, I hope you guys are as helpfull as the C2 and C3 guys.
I will assisting my brother (well probably doing all of it) installing a new exhaust, from headers to tips, on his C6. My first question is what type of header bolts should he use? I have headers on my '70 big block using standard non-locking bolts. These require occasional re-torquing, but I drive it only 1500 miles/yr and they are easy to get to. I know my brother is not going to want to do this.
Is there a need for locking bolts for his application? If so, what do you recommend?
Any other tips (no pun intended) that I should know before starting this install; we will be using my 4-post lift and I don't want to tie up the garage space for more than a day.
One side note, I think his "payment" should be letting me have the car for a day. What are the chances of that?
Thanks in advance.
reuse the stock manifold bolts and stock gaskets. I've done around 10 of these installs have'nt had a problem yet. I did let the headers heat up a few times then re torqued them - not necessary though I'm just very "by the book".
My Dynatech Headers came with new bolts and the instructions to use anti-seize and to torque to factory specs (11 lb. ft. first pass and 18 lb.ft. scond pass) and said to check/verify after a few heat cycles.
There is very good access to the headers, I was able to get a torque wrench on every bolt fairly easily.

i agree with the bolts comments.
when running the rear o2 extensions you may want to drill two small holes in the tunnel plate so you can tie the extensions up out of the way.
you don't need to remove the rear sway bar to get the old 'cans' off.
As long as you use factory gaskets and not soft board type and a little anti-seize on the bolts and check once, you will be fine with the stock bolts. Clean all the factory thread sealant off the bolts with a fine wire brush before you reuse and check to make sure each hole is clear by running the bolts into the heads without the gaskets and headers in place first. Cross threading is more of a problem than having them loosen up.
I put headers on our C6 with less than 400 miles on the car and now have 6000 miles on it without having to touch the header bolts.
You MUST support the O2 sensor wiring on the tunnel plate somehow, lots of ways to do it, do a search and you will find some pictures I posted on how I did it on our car.
Header install on the C6 is very easy, at least for the 1-3/4" tubes and LG Pro with cats system, which fit perfectly on our car.
