I don't understand the problem but take it to the dealer and have the problem corrected. Batteries will stand up to the heat but will not last as long.

If you want a heat shield (battery wrap) for you battery, send me a PM with your address and I will send you one. That being said I think it is a mistake to put it on.

Battery blankets are meant to keep internally generated heat in, not keep external heat out. If your battery feels hot, its because heat is generated internally as your battery charges.
Fluid leaking out is usually an indication that the battery was overfilled when it was made, has been overcharged, or the battery is defective. If it has been overfilled, it could leak a bit for a few weeks until it gets the correct level. In the heat of the summer your battery will reach its largest charge and could leak some fluid, but this is normal. When your battery is hot, it can hold a bigger charge and it can discharge much quicker. Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) is used to measure battery performance because the colder a battery is the fewer amps it can discharge.
Check your voltage gauge, it should always be between about 12.0v and 14.6v. If it is above that level you have a problem with the charging system which can cause it to overcharge. If the voltage level is OK and the battery continues to leak, the battery is defective and you should replace it.

I agree with what you say except for the statement above. Many vehicles have heat shields to reduce battery temperature and we have a ton of data to support that they due, but as you stated, he has another problem. I have a few battery heat shields under my desk, so if he wants to prove to himself that we are correct, I am going to send him one.
