I've had four sets of B&B exhaust, and their quality is outstanding. I had to replace a clamp on one a few years ago (not their fault - my dealer screwed it up), and their service was top notch. They are great folks.
In my quest to upgrade / change my exhaust, I am considering the BB Route 66 system.
Just wanted to ask if anybody has had "Quality Issues with the Route 66"
I had read on several threads that some of the C5 owners experienced broken hangers.
Just trying to do my homework
I've heard that they are a well built, great sounding system with a nice array of tips. I do notice pretty often that either the left or right side is higher or lower than the other side. In other words, the two left tips are about 1" above the two right tips instead of them all being a level height.
I'm sure that can be adjusted though, it's just something I've noticed a few times. I always hear good things about Billy Boat which is a plus.
I had B&B's on my 99 & later replaced them with GHL Magnums, since they were louder. Wifey didn't like them, but, both are excellent. Like to put B&B's on my 06 but can't get a good price on them. They keep going up, like everything else. However, their quality is excellent!
I have the R66 w/ quad oval tips...and it is a great product...a little too quiet for my taste; but definitely a quality product. very good welds...the cans are practically chrome...and if cared for properly, they stay that way...I have no other complaints but the loudness (but of course that's my fault as they don't sell this as being a loud exhaust).
I have use BB on my Mercedes,BMW,and Corvette. I think they are the best you can get for Quality.
REPLY: I bought B.B. Route 66 Catback last year for my 2006 , and the drone was so bad between 1600-1900 rpms that i switched back to the stock Catback. I complained to B.B. about them , and they wanted to sell me a $300 internal baffle system to eliminate it ; why dont they just install it in their Catbacks at the factory and put out a proper product to begin with ? I was able to sell the B.B. Route 66's but at a loss of $500 . So...you might say 'I was up the creek without a paddle' from buying Billy Boats crap. My advice : Dont buy them until they can learn to engineer the thing correctly from the start.
