I added a Homelink - Pics inside

For several months I have worked to get the Learcar opener system in my 2007 Z06 and my wife's 2007 coupe to program the gates to my community to no avail. I talked to Learcar tech support several times with no success.
I knew that the Homelink system would program to the gates since it worked well in my 2005 coupe and in my wife's 2005 Tahoe. It seems that Corvette switched over to the Learcar system sometime in early 2006.
I got 2 Homelink visor systems through a local hotrod shop ($75 each) and installed them in our two cars. Now I can finally open the gates without using an opener that was 5"x2"x3".
Here are pictures and my instructions.
First remove the visor from the car by placing a flat blade screw driver in the slot where the visor enters the header of the car. Using the visor as a lever, pull the visor and screw driver toward the driver window until the visor disconnects from the header. Unplug the power cord and the visor is ready for the next step.
Second, using the flatbalde screw driver open up the vanity and pry it away from the visor carefully. It is held in place by several small plastic pins.
Third, flip the vanity away from the visor and use the Homelink transmitter to mark the fiber board under the mirror.
Fourth, carefully cut out the fiber board to make a space to insert the Homelink transmitter using a razor knife. Do not cut through to the other side of the visor, just through the fiber board.
Fifth, drill holes to accommodate the buttons for the Homelink which will be inserted from the other side of the visor.
Sixth, insert the Homelink transmitter and splice it into the wiring used to connect the Learcar transmitter.
Seventh, snap the control buttons into the Homelink transmitter from the other side of the visor.
Eighth, secure the vanity to the visor using hot melt glue on each of the post that you removed.
Finally connect up the power cable in the car and re-install the visor into the header by pushing up and turning the unit using the screw driver and the visor as a lever toward the front window of the car.
Program your buttons and you are good to go.

Can you tell me where you got the Homelink module? I am interested! If GM blows me off then I need a plan B. Having 3 garage door openers hanging off the visors with roof off just looks stupid. *sigh*

Just the type of supplier GM likes to have.

Exactly - some purchasing agent probably got a big bonus for the change too.

As previously mentioned, you will need to get a local shop to purchase the visor Homelink module for you since they do not sell direct and the visor module is not even listed as a product here. Their 800 number is on the page.
They also have a replacement mirror that has the Homelink system integrated but I elected not to try to use it since I have OnStar in my mirror that I wanted to keep.
If your product has 3 LED lights, please refer to www.learCar2U.com or call 1-866-57Car2U for additional support.
