Chatter, shudder, pulsate, vibrate during engagement? More so at low RPMs. I have a basically stock 07 coupe with clutch chatter from day 1 (I took delivery with roughly 70 miles on the clock.) To me this means the clutch wasn't broken in properly and the porter had a field day when driving it (dealer trade car.)
My 04Z did the same thing (had 200 miles on it at delivery) and GM replaced it under warranty, as it was much worse. Never had a problem after that.
This is one of those little nuisances that irritates the crap out of me for a $50k car. Just got the call back from service rep saying it's "normal" for these cars. This is the same guy that warrantied it on the other car without hesitation.
Thoughts? Experiences? Suggestions? I know how to "bark up the GM tree" and raise a stink, but before I go that route I'd like to know who else experiences this. Thinking about trying a different dealer....
Not even really noisey, per say. But it's a rather annoying vibration in the driveline when leaving from a light under light loads, or backing out of the garage, for example.
Unfortunately this does occur on some of the cars, it has nothing to do with who drove the car. The only way it MAY get better is to replace the clutch assm., that said the new one may or may not be better. If your dealer has several man. trans. vettes, and you were to go out and just drive on the lot, you would feel the same thing. We would replace it for you, but I wish I could say for sure it would be gone, can't. I would hope better though.

Ok, I can appreciate that. The car I actually test drove had none what-so-ever, so when I took delivery of this one (dealer trade) I was rather irritated. That's now two brand new Corvettes that I bought without test driving the exact car I was buying first with chattering clutches. Lesson learned. I still think i want it to be replaced, and let me break it in properly. I've driven other cars (non-vettes) that have this issue stock. It's more of a pet-peeve of mine than anything, and I'm picky. What can I say!
My 05 chatters at low rpm, like easing it into the garage. The engagement point is pretty sensitive in normal driving too. It won't get better as you put on miles so I'd say to push for a replacement. It does help to rev the car very slightly - 1,000 rpm.

I just picked up an 07 1LT/MN6 (7/10/07). I test drove the car with 8 miles on it. I took delivery we 23 miles on it. Today the car has 460 miles on it. Chatter from day one. Thought it was me at first...I don't think so. I have an appointment to drop it off at the dealer at 7:30 tomorrow morning...

My 06 Z51 chatters intermittantly, 8500 miles, seams to do it more when hot and especially when very humid. On cool dry days, no chatter at all. I will probably just live with it.

Absolutely. I have an 07 mn6 that was delivered with 5 miles on it. I really don't think Bowling Green abused it and the dealer here in denver never drove it. I have 2 problems. In reverse, it shudders, and vibrates. And going forward, anytime the rpm goes below 1000, say to 700 when pulling away from a stop sign, there is a driveline vibration. I took it to the dealer, and the senior mechanic said it was normal. I think not, but I can live with it.

I have it too. I've got about 3,000 miles now and it did it since new. I recently changed to Royal Purple Synchromax and now it doesn't rattle when cold, but once it's warmed up it rattles like it did when I picked the car up.
I have a bit of chatter...I complained about it and they changed the clutch fluid...which completely got rid of it (quite frankly it felt like a totally different clutch)...a couple hundred miles later...back to the chatter. Based on that...my guess is that it has something to do with the fluid properties changing with heat/cool cycles and the small diameter of the hydraulic lines.

Change out a few reservoir fulls of clutch fluid when the chatter returns. At least on mine that fixes it for a long enough time to make it worthwhile. I do this every few months.

My 07 MN6 has done the same since I bought it(took delivery with 74 miles on it). Changing the clutch fluid helps for a while.
1,900 miles on my 07 since I took delivery-thankfully no issues with Clutch chatter & I've made quite a few passes down the 1/4 Mile when I first purchased it.
My 05 clutch rattles when I engage 1st and if I press the clutch pedal down again it sometimes makes a horrible clanking noise. The only time I don't get rattle/chatter is if I pull away nice and sharp with no delay when I engage the clutch.
Mine chattered a bit when I first got it, but now (9500 miles) it's smooth as silk. Not sure if the clutch has worn in better or I've just gotten a little better at operating it (all my cars over the last ten years have had manual transmission).
I have the chatter/shudder from day one (10 miles), there have been a couple posts about this problem here, i don't buy that it's 'normal' as the service dept's are saying.
If i put on a aftermarket clutch assembly there isnt going to be any of that, many have replaced clutches that were worn out with aftermarket brands and never reported any chatter,(most infact complain of high pedal effort)
Just like a brake rotor warps and you get a pulsing in the pedal from it i believe the surface of the presure plate or clutch material is defective,
either warped or the springs in the clutch plate are to weak, dont tell me it cant be a bad part/s we have seen plenty of defective parts in these cars, history speaks for itself, and a properly operating clutch shouldn't do any of whats been reported
Ok im done venting
