I have performed a search to see if anyone else has experienced the foloowing problem, and no results. If I press the snowflake button to turn the compressor off on my 2006 C6 and go to vent mode and reduce the in car temps to 60 degrees cold air continues to come out of the vents. I also notice the condensation drips under the car. So, it appears the compressor is not turning off. I have looked in the manual but am stumped as to what is going on. Also the recirc light comes on.
Has anyone else experienced this problem ans if so what if any solution is available (besides taking it to the dreaded dealer).
I know in my sons Silverado (2005) if it is in recirculation mode only the AC compressor gets turned on too. Designed to do that from the factory for those hi-humidity days in certain cities. I haven't checked my C6 to see if it does it as well, but I would think so.
When you disable the AC compressor and then select an in car temp of 60 degrees F, the AC compressor is enabled. After all, cold is cold.
Also, if you disable the AC compressor and manually scroll through the vent modes, the AC compressor will automaticaly enable when you access the 1st AC mode.
Select the temp you want, then the vent mode, THEN press the snow flake button last.
I understand what you are saying, but this system is obviously different than other GM cars. When I just want vent in my DTS, I turn off the A/C, reduce inside temp to 60 and the compressor does not come on. So, if I set my inside temp to 70 are you saying this is also cold compared to an outside temp of 85 and the compressor will also run. Whatever happened to being able to turn on and off the A/C and not having the compressor run regardless of inside temp setting.
I drive with the top off most of the time. I'd like to blow some outside air at my feet to offset the heat from the tunnel. What's the best way to do this without bringing on the compressor?

Select the temp you want, select the lower mode (heater) and if the snow flake icon is on, press the snow flake button to disable the AC compessor.
As near as I can figure on my '05 there is no fresh air only setting (Vent). The only way the fan runs is if you set a temp, the car decides whether to mix heated air from the heater core, cooled air from the A/C coil or some portion of outside air to get the temp you set.
I think the controls are biased towards the console/ firewall/ tunnel heat. if the outside air temp is 70° and I set a desired inside temp of 75° the A/C runs. The only way to get fresh air in the car is to turn the A/C/Heater off, open the windows and suffer the wind buffeting.
I run my system all the time in "manual mode" with the compressor off and it never goes on unless I turn it on. The display indicates a snowflake symbol with a slash through it. As long as that is displayed, the compressor is not on. But if you use the system in "auto" mode, I believe the compressor will be on depending on the circumstances and when you then try and turn it off, you are taken out of "auto " mode.
I also run my system in manual mode most of the time (top down) and there is cold air emitting from the vents. I do not get a snowflake symbol with a slash through it and the snowflake button shows the compressor is off. This is frustrating. I have tried all sorts of options and the only way I can get the compressor to turn off and stop the cold air is to turn the inside temp up to 90 and then I get heat. Guess I will need to schedule a trip to the dreaded dealer. Something is obviously wrong with the system. Normal?? I do not think so.
What do you mean "the snowflake button shows the compressor is off"? On my 2005, the snowflake button doesn't have any illumination. Only the recirculate and the two defroster buttons have lights. The way mine works is if you press the snowflake button, the compressor will turn off (a snowflake symbol with slash shows on the display), and press it again and the compressor turns on (the snowflake symbol with slash disappears). If yours works differently, I would take it to the dealer and have them check it.
