The dealer is really trying everything they can to fix the problem. They give me free loaners etc. No real complaints at all with the dealer. I am sure this is driving the Vette tech nuts.
I had read-end chatter - changed oil and was gone. - Better yet I put a 3.15 DTE dif.
Roof noise - fixed w/ lube and strikers from dealer
AirBag Light intermitent. Just started.. ???

I bought mine new in january of 06 has 8000 miles on it and have had quite a few problems. Ive been to the dealer probably around 20 times. Heres the list

Brake Squeal

Steel belting came out of rear tire

Dealer scratched rim and replaced it with cheap POS nock off

Roof creaking and popping

Shifter rattling

ashtray popping open

Drivers door rattle

Rear end problem

extremely slow oil leak on oil pan

Thats all i have so far. They finnaly replaced my roof with a new one and no problems since.
They did the differential oil change but noise was still there so they replaced the clutch packs which took them 16 hours, and two weeks later, am starting to hear the noise again.
I honestly think i have a lemon, and go figure the color is VY.
Like i always say, if i own it, it will break.

2005 w/18k on it most are small problems
DSB ( Dealer replaced the oem battery )
Rear end chatter (Oil and add)
Fuel cap lite ( Replaced fuel cap)
Clear roof popping ( Lube ) Solid roof no problems so far mod done
Driver air bag lite goes on and off ( I can play with the seat belt and get it to go out at least I think it's connected to the problem--not fixed yet)
Nav Radio has no volume when playing MP3's ( No fix yet, did software update no help)

Still LOVE Driving her

For those of you who have problems and you vettes have to stay overnight at the dealership, does Chevy give you a car to drive in the meantime???

Has everyones rear differential chatter issue returned after being "fixed" by the dealer?

and for those that have used other oils like Royal Purple and AMSoil...has that been a better remedy?

I have an '07 with 13000 miles.

Had her in once about a week after I got it. Seems the factory *forgot* to put on the retaining clip on the tranny shifter cable at the transmission end. The thing wouldn't shift back into park.

Tomorrow I bring it in because the "Service Trac Sys" light has come on a few times in the past 2 weeks. Not sure what that's all about.

Yes, dealer provides a free loaner when it's in for factory warranty work (At least Sport Chevy does!)

to repeat - thanks for all your input on this ...great to have a forum and get some first hand info....one thing owners especially enthusiast owners will always be honest about thier cars.

Seems like the same kinds of stuff...none of whats been posted has been unique except for the person with the headlight issue.

so it doesnt sound to bad....

ANY driveability issues?

Or any knowledge of the shifting into third gear problem?

Also I have read about people getting oil in their intakes?..

anyone with info please respond

Only problem I have is that it won't stop spinning the tires until about 80mph.

7000 miles and only one problem. My roof popped and creaked. I finally fixed that. Never had to take it back to the dealer for anything.

My biggest problem is I can't stay out of it. I drive it everywhere except in snow or salt. That's for the wagon. 2 yrs old and 25,000 miles. No major problems.

Default Resale & Chevrolet

I've had a few and the biggest problem is resale because Chevrolet hurts the resale market with rebates, incentives, etc. When you trade often this is annoying.

That aside. They are the biggest bang for the buck available.

If you have to drive a fast car everyday and don't want to lose six figures a corvette is the easiest way to go.

Service is easy, chevy dealers are everywhere.

Good luck

You will enjoy the car.

Default We'll if you don't mind no first or second gear 40% of the time

I have a GM certifed 2005 C6 that has the classic no first or second gear bug. Holler Chevy in Orlando Florida won't fix it. Annoying when it happens but livable.

Unless I'm stopping on a hill, I make sure I engage 1st as I come to stop at a light. Then into neutral with the brake on. If the car doesn't move you should always be able to got right back into 1st again. If it's on a hill and it doesn't want to go into first just let the car roll about a foot and it should slip into first.

Default 05 c6 first gear wont go in every once in a while

I have a problem where every once in a while at a stop light the first gear wont go in. I have to uncluch, cluch it again and then it will go in gear. Also sometimes the shifting feels pretty rough in first second and third. and sometimes it will feel smooth as silk specially if I shift with a bit of a pause in between pressing the clutch, pause, shift...

has anyone experienced this?

does it sound as if I should take the car to the dealership to get the transmission or clutch fixed?

Also, in regards of the differencial chatter my car had it too and they replaced the fluid which did not help it and then they replaced the clutch packs which did fix it.

Otherwise the car is AWESOME and I love it. Biggest bang for your buck.

On occasion mine gets stubborn going into first gear as well. But any car I have had that was stick did that. Just let take your foot off the clutch to release while still in neutral and re-clutch it. You will be fine.

Just thought I'd follow up that the problem was a bad steering wheel sensor. They swapped it out and it's been fine since! ~Juliet
