I changed my thermostat today with a 160* I lost a good bit of coolant which I wasn't expecting as i have changed thermos out before without much lost coolant. Anyway, I thought I had a gallon of distilled water laying around to top it off but it I didn't. I needed to get into to work so in a pinch I poured in about a gallon, 13 pints to be exact, of Poland Spring water in so I could get to work. Will this plain water damage anything? Should I drain it out tomorrow for 50% distilled and 50% coolant?
I wouldn't worry about the water. Basic tap water is not the best because it may have some sediment, rust ... but I'm sure that bottled water you used was filtered plenty.
But you do need to get the coolant back to 50/50 before the winter.
I'd drain out about 1/2 the amount you put in and add some straight dexcool. Pick up a hydrometer at an auto parts store and check the specific gravity (freeze point) and that will tell you if you have added enough.
I thought Fuji was for Japanese cars. Just don't use Evian - that's for Pugeots.
We always used to get funny looks when we bought 15 gallons of distilled water to fill up a new mainframe. For some reason people didn't seem to believe us when we explained what it was for.
