Did anyone else notice in the Motor Trend review they state that the recommended fuel is Unleaded Regular?

Saw that. Do not know if fact. But, with the relatively small difference between 89 and 93 octane, probably would go with the premium. Back when gas was $1.50/gal it seemed that each step up in octane rating was a dime. That does not seem to have changed.

Read your owners manuel. On the LS2 it required a minimum of 87 octane. The 91/92 octane was recommended. The LS3 is probably the same. You will get less performance with 87 octane. I have come across one guy who runs nothing but regular in his LS2.

with that high of a CR, you really need 93 octane to get full performance. That or at least 91oct.

My LS2 has never seen anything but 93 octane.

I pulled up to the forward pump at a local station the other day and was surprised to see one button labeled 100 octane racing fuel. Maybe I live a sheltered life, or blind, but I've never noticed that option before.

I have never used anything but premium unleaded in my vettes. But I'm tempted to try the 100 octane some day soon.

What kind of station and how much did it cost?

Unless you have the car tuned to use that fuel, and use it all the time, the only thing you're going to feel is a lighter wallet.

You won't notice any performance difference with 100 octane.

I don't recall the price, but it's the gas station/car wash on the west side of I-5 at the La Paz Rd exit. It's at the corner of La Paz Rd and Cabot Rd. I'll check what type of gas station it is next time I drive by. Maybe there's one down your way in Santee.

According to posts here it does not sound like 100 octane will benefit my ride.

I cannot possibly imagine that any LSx based engine would run properly on 87 octane. Anyone who has hooked up a scan tool on these engines in the summer will tell you that even with 91-93 octane you're going to see some spark retard in the higher gears. So with 87 octane the computer must be pulled out an incredible amount of timing.

Sunoco used to sell 100 or 102 octane at the pumps where I love.

Alot of times, gas stations that are close to race tracks also sell higher octane and race gas via pump.

Same here and if you get a "tune" you will have to run 92/93.

Very true. Just to test that theory I ran 102 octane at the drag track once. Did 10+ passes during the night and there was 0 difference in what I ran on 93 vs. the racing gas.

oh boy.....has anyone everheard you car runs its fastest when its on the verge of detonation? leaner is meaner? used to crake me up back in my 5.0 day back in the 90's when my small block fords would beat up on old men with their big block chevies becuase they were either overcammed for their combination or WAY over carbs and theirs ran like crap. you can run any LSx motor on 87, aluminum heads disappate heat alot and you have knock sensors to reduce timing....i wouldnt run 87 at a dragstrip but i would run anything over 93 either.
