Headers install question
I have Kooks long-tube headers on my '07 MN6 C6. How much clearance should there be between the header and the clutch housing? I'm asking because I'm chasing down a hot interior and I've noticed that the left header is touching the black gasket on the clutch housing. The right side has about a 1/2" clearance. The heat becomes unbearable on the drivers side while the pax side is not hot at all. I've installed an insulated tunnel plate and the interior noise/heat kit from Exotic Vette and I still have this problem.
Is there any chance that I'm getting heat transfer from the header because it's touching?
Anyone? When you installed your headers, did they touch the clutch housing or was there clearance all around?
I have Kooks 1-7/8 and they do not touch anything. You will probably have to loosen up eveything and then on that problem side also loosen the bolts holding the headers to the heads, with a little effort you should get the clearance needed so they don't touch anything.
I do not think though that having them touch is causing much heat gain, but if they are touching they may also be too close to the underside of the body and then I could see an increase in reflected heat. But from 1 small contact point I doubt it would change much.

Thanks!
Do you think I may be getting any noise transmission having the parts touching?
The black gasket you are referring to I think is a black piece of plastic attached to the bellhousing. One of my header tubes touched that too, but I just trimmed it down a bit. That is not going to cause a heat issue though.
