if you are not going to do the t stat. then try running a lower % of antifreeze with water wetter. i run 25% antifreeze and never see snow in AZ.

In order for the water wetter to work you must drain most of the coolant out and replace w/ distilled water (before adding the ww). I added the ww without doing this and it was a waste of $. I live in the hot country and run a 160 deg ts...dropped my overall temps 20 deg. Now I dont need the ww. Works well for me!

If you live in hot country. If not, read on. I just did the 160 stat and 2 - 12oz bottles of water wetter into my 50/50 mix if antifreeze and water. Go to www.redlineoil.com for video and directions. 50% antifreeze/water with ww will only cool the temp 8* (from their dyno results on the bottle in my hand.) WW with 100% water cools it 26* The directions then say "At least 15% antifreeze should be used in street vehicles." I live in Denver, so I thought the risk of freezing the block far outweighed the risk of overheating.

it works! oxygen is bad in a boiler system so "water wetter" is a boiler chemical that takes 02 out of water and thus helps heat exchange, the guys right about less anti-freeze, it works better with more water.

That's the ideal way to use it (for 'never freezing' southern climates only though) of course but one should still see some cooling benefits after adding two bottles of WW to even a 50/50 Dexcool/water mix as well IMO.

I live in Denver too... I'd like to run about 30% coolant/ 70% water, but I run 40%/60% w/WW for fear of freezing. Although, when winter comes, I'll likely adjust the coolant to a 50/50 mix.

I drained out about 6 qts of coolant & replaced with distilled water & 2 bottles of Red Line's Water Wetter. Took a 180 mi round trip and can't say that I noticed a difference. Still runs at 180 @ 60 mph and a bit hotter in traffic. My Fan Module has not been reprogrammed yet.

Water wetter is a waste of time and money in a street car.

Like soap, Water Wetter reduces surface tension and retards the onset of nucleate boiliing under very high load conditions.

It works at a race track where it will retard the onset of nucleate boiling (or more correctly departure from nucleate boiling) say at the end of a long straight.

As far as boilers, something like hydrazine is added to the boiler feed to scavenge oxygen (O2 prromotes corrosion and scaling). By definition, nucleate boiling is allowed in a boiler.

Here is a link to an article with more info. I have no idea if the stuff in the article is any good but he has a good explanation. http://www.evanscooling.com/html/tech1.htm

A 160 thermostat will show much greater results, is easy, and cheap. I did WW and reduced Dexcool to about 30% and didn't notice any drop in temps. You need a lower stat.
