Default Coolant system problem

I just had some major mods done along with 160* stat. I drove all the way home..... 300 + mi. at 70-80 mph with 90 deg outside temps and coolant temps at 175-180*
The next day with 90*+ temp I was out pushing it a bit harder on some near by country roads and the cooling system not going much over 205*. Got back in town and made a stop with the car still running for less than 10 minuts and the temps got to 240-245* and started out the spill tube.
After getting it cooled down and adding new coolant that I lost. I did a test run on the road for an easy 10-15 miles and letting it idle 2 different times for 15 minuts at 85* OD temps and it stays in the 180-185* coolant temp range.
My Question is?
Should I look at changing the stat out now just to be safe, could it have been an air pocket after all this drive time on it or do I just keep an eye on it for awhile.
At what temps does the fan come on stock and if it has a tune on it for the 160* stat what should it be set at .

i think its an air pocket. after a few full heat ups then cool downs, it will be fine. keep it full

Sounds like you haven't reset the fan to come on sooner and at higher percentages. You really need to if you want full benefit of the 160. I put mine at 15% @ 192, ramping up to 90% by 198. It doesn't ever get over 205 now.

with both of these posts...your problem was likely air in the system in the first place, and having the fan on temps would be a good idea.
