Default Callaway CAI defect

Ordered and received the Callaway Honker CAI but it seems to have some kind of defect. Pics are posted below. Look at the picture of how it is supposed to look like (the right side) versus the way the left side looks.

I am going to contact Callaway tomorrow about a replacement unit. My real reason for posting is absolutely not to talk down about the product but rather to get your opinion. The defect doesn't look like it will be visible at all. Should i just live with it?

It almost looks as if someone sanded the corner. I know this happened at Callaway though because I received it sealed and in box.

Thoughts? I am just worried that it is a flaw that will later fail/crack somehow.... Additionally it is a little lowed than the rest of the lip surface because as I said earlier, it appears as if some material has been removed. Not a lot, but some...

I don't see anything that would make you lose any ponies. Forget about it. Just shove it in

Its cosmetic in my opinion, wont be seen after install. Probably had some extra plastic from the mold, no biggie IMHO.

I thought the new Honkers came with a red colored K&N filter? However, the Green Filter is just as good or better, so I'd keep it. As long as the element is continuous (there are no holes) I wouldn't worry about it.

It should not affect anything and no one will see it. The filter will still seal completely. Of course on the other hand paying 400 bucks for something you expect it to be perfect...

That says it all... That is exactly how I feel, it wasn't cheap, I would expect that it wouldn't have any defects!

As far as the filter goes, I was hoping it was one of those as well. I was UNpleasantly surprised when it arrived. Since they just went to the K&N filter, I am guessing I got one of the older stock....I have heard the green ones are good, I just have never used them and prefer the K&N....

Well count yourself lucky.

I got the K&N replacement:

- Metal chunks (from the screen) laying loose on it
- Doesn't sit down in the plastic base right (its too wide)

I hope they get on K&N, the quality of the filter is POOR.

Really! I am glad you said something. Now I am wondering if I shouldn't just leave well enough alone and install this setup rather than taking my chances on a replacement set... Thanks for the heads up!
