Default Easy Exit-can I damage anything?

I set up my easy exit to go all the way back and also to lift the seat up so that I can get out easier but mostly so that other people that feel the need to get in and sit behind the wheel won't go slamming hard down into the seat. Do you think I will damage anything or wear anything out by having the auto exit set like this?

You must be retired or a government employee because you have way tooo much time to think about this.

That's like asking if you should roll the window down or not...
Yeah, sooner or later it might take a dump, but it may not be because you used the easy exit everytime.

No I can see where he's going with this. I'ts not the easiest car to get out of and I've found because I kind of slide my legs sideways first before I exit, the leather seating area at the front of the drivers seat is stretching to the left and wrinkling badly. Now when I climb out I tilt the steering wheel up and put the seat right back to try to prevent this from happening and it's definitely saving the leather. You won't do the seat, wheel or any part of the mecha nism any harm, it's designed to do this time and time again............

Well I know on the C5's, they said it could contribute to the seat rocking syndrome.

But I'm not worried about the seat going back, I'm concerned about the seat being set to lift up after it goes back. No one thinks that should be an issue at all?

I can't imagine it would BUT I don't hit the easy exit door button and I'll tell you why; my service active handling light came on due to the steering wheel retracting up and of course down and on the 05's it causes a problem with the wiring harness to the s w p sensor switch/connector so now I just tilt the wheel up and slide the seat back with the switch on the side of the seat. I don't go all the way back cos it seems to hit the back somewhere and push the back of the seat forward and that doesnt seem quite right to me. A small amount of play was built in to the seat back to allow for this apparently.

If you hit the seatback when you go all the way back, you must have the seatback reclined too far. Move it up a bit for performance driving instead of "cruising for chicks" mode and problem will be solved.

I have it set to do it automatically, although I could hit the easy exit button as well. I don't have the patience to fumble with the seat. Thats a big pet peeve I had about the BMW M3 and my wifes Lexus SUV. When I get out, the damn seat should move out of the way PERIOD. No excuses, no BS, I am not a contortionist.

The only thing I'd worry about is having something behind the seat that might get crushed - I do put things back there occasionally.

But one question does come to mind - how do you raise the seat any without running your head through the roof? Do you always drive topless? I'm not tall, and I only have an inch of headroom with the seat all the way down.

I'm 5'7, but maybe the convertible has more headroom?

I'm 5 8 and 1/2, but my wife tells me I'm longer from butt to head than feet to butt. Of course she often tells me that my head is up my butt too, so I don't know which story I should believe.

Or maybe the convertible does have more headroom.
