Sooner or later, the daytime running light bulbs on your 2005 to 2008 Corvette will burn out, since they are lit whenever the engine is running. These lights are also called the front parking/turn signal lamps in the owner’s manual, on pages 5-45 through 5-48. If you like to do things yourself, here is how to replace the bulb. ( If replacing the bulb doesn’t fix the problem, see the GM service manual. )
First, go to Wal-Mart and buy a 2-bulb package of Sylvania #3457ALL bulbs for about $5.00 plus tax. These are amber, 2-filament bulbs with a flat blade base, and are rated for long life. Why Wal-Mart? The GM bulb is listed in the owner’s manual as Wagner # 5702KA, or GM part # 1523-3607, for $13.04 each, and must be specially ordered. You could use your computer and buy the bulb for $8.13 each from www.GMPartsdirect.com. The Wal-Mart Sylvania (Osram) bulbs are made in the USA, too.
Second, chock the far corner rear wheel and then jack up the proper front corner of the car using a rubber puck, a soft piece of wood , or GM tool #J43625 between your low-profile jack and the slot in the car’s frame just ahead of the door. Place a block or a jackstand under the car’s frame at the front suspension mounting point. ( If in doubt where to support the frame, see page 0-24 of the service manual.) The owner’s manual says you just need to turn the tire far enough to get access to the rubber cover on the top inside of the wheel well. I recommend removing the wheel, to get some elbow room.
Third, using a small flat-bladed screwdriver or a small pair of diagonal cutters, gently pull the center pins of 5 of the 6 plastic push-rivets that hold the rubber cover. The pins have to come out about ¼ inch, not all the way. When 5 of the 6 rivets are removed, the cover can be rotated out of the way.
Fourth, take a good light and look at the 3 bulb sockets. The daytime running light socket is the one closest to the side of the car. Gently loosen some slack in the wires leading to the socket. Then press in the locking tab and turn the socket ¼ turn counter-clockwise; this is not easy. When the socket has turned, you can pull it out through the opening. Then you can remove the old bulb by prying it straight out of the jaws in the socket. The socket is shown on p. 8-438 of the service manual.
Fifth, insert the new bulb all the way into the socket, so the jaws snap into the two grooves. Apparently the bulb’s two filaments are the same, since the bulb’s base can be inserted either way in the socket’s slot. Then reinstall the socket by lining up the tabs around the opening, pressing in on the locking tab, and making a ¼ turn clockwise. You will feel the locking tab pop out when you have turned the socket far enough. Put the cover back in place with the 5 plastic rivets. Remove the jackstand and/or the block from under the frame, lower the car, and remove the rear wheel chock. Now you can test the new light bulb by starting the car. (Since there is no ignition key switch, you can’t just turn the ignition on.)
Remember when it was a two-minute job to change a car turn signal bulb, and the side pins made it impossible to put it in the wrong way? Skip Zeller

I still think my choice of replacement bulbs is better, though!
