I feel......................... well, STUPID!!!! I consider myself a good wrench with above average knowledge of the interworkings of an automobile. I research any mods before starting them to learn as much as I can. I'm been modding my Hi-perf cars since I was 15 years old. BUT DAMN, I feel STUPID!!!
My code P0172 was thrown because I installed the MAF backwards, against the airflow. Thanks for all the input. It was the comments on a faulty MAF that got me looking at it, and there it was, with the arrow pointing up stream.
I've done many stupid things on cars in my years of working on them but I only do them once. I think that's how most of us learn. I fried the computer on an 84 Buick. I haven't done that since.
No one is perfect, makes it worthwhile to triple check, I have to do it all the time on everything really, cars, relationships, childern, job, you know everything
So what did the engine do? Start pumping gas into the tank? Everyone makes dumb mistakes. Some of mine are a lot worse than that. Good to see you found it so quickly.
I'm willing to bet it was one of those things where you just knew something wasn't right as you're doing it but you couldn't quite put your finger on it. Been there done that...
