I am going to install my LGs next week. They inlude one pair of extensions. Are they intended for the front or for the rear O2s ? The front O2 harness is pretty far up by the intake manifold as compared to the front bungs in the LGS down close to the collector. What are people doing ?
The rears. The front O2's have plenty of wire to fit into the stock harness. The extensions are for the rear O2s which go into the x pipe just aft of the cats. Good luck with the install. Let me know if you have any questions, I installed my LGs last month.
Cheers.
Thanks for the confirmation. Always knew them as for the rear, but then saw how high up the harness was for the fronts. Do you need to disconnect the plug up by the intake manifold to get enough slack or do you mean that the harness attached to the sensor has enough length to get all the way up there- didn't seem like it and is what prompted my question. Thanks for the offer. Dean
Easiest way to do it in my opinion is to remove the exhaust aft of cat down pipes. Then disconnect the front sensors up by the head/coil packs. There was no way I could get my big monkey paws in and around the cat /cat pipes to unplug the rear O2s from their harness. So instead, I loosened the bolts from the cats to the manifolds which gave me enough room to get my hand in and disconnect them. Once that was done, I removed the cats/cat pipes, and then the manifolds. Works better with 2 people, though it is not required.
Cheers.
If its a C6, you should have two sets of O2 sensor extensions, one pair for the front sensors and one pair for the rear sensors. You need four extensions total.

Absolutely correct, my apologies. I completely misspoke.

And lo and behold, there were in fact two pairs of extension harnesses provided by LG- I though I saw only one pair. The front O2 harness connector doesn't get past the valve cover and the pigtail from the front O2 when installed in the header doesn't get anywhere close to the valve cover. I presume the shorter of the two extension harnesses is for the front.
I removed the entire stock exhaust tonight and I have to say I was a little disappointed in the quality control - one of the nuts on the manifold stud appeared cross threaded and one of the rear O2 definitely had damaged threads that I didn't cause. Also, and I think people have pointed this out, the stock x-pipe has several crusty/rusty spots on it. The cat pipes appear to be of a better quality stainless.
