With Kooks, Corsa Sport, Halltech CAI, Ported intake and tune, mine is 388/rwhp and 380/rwtq.

If you get a chance to take a look at the stock headers, you'll have your answer. They are a joke in my opinion. Air mods are great for the car and you won't be disappointed. There was a night/day difference in my car when I had headers and fast intake installed with regard to both sound and performance.

Seems like most people said there's definitely more power to be had with headers and it's worthwhile mod.

Poster "Blitz" in post #5 in this thread thinks otherwise though.

I can't speak to this for the Z06, but anyone who claims that there is no gain with headers with the C6 (LS2 or LS3) is wrong period. I have said this before headers can be had for around 1500 bucks new and give you 20 to 30 rwhp compared to catback exhaust for 1000 to 1200 which give you 2 or 3 rwhp if that. You do the math. Headers sound nice with the stock exhaust as well.

Alright guys, I"ve read enough positive comments to want to get them. Now which brand? That's a can of worms I'm opening up huh? Seems like all of the different brands are good, there's no bad one as far as HP/TQ gained. I do remember reading that some have not so good fitment. Anybody care to make a suggestion?

Thanks!

It seems the top three are and I am not saying this is in order of perfomance either:

1. LG's
2. Kooks
3. American Racing Headers.

Take your pick from what I have seen (I chose ARH) they are all really goos products.

I've had a set of LG Pro Long Tubes on every vette I've owned, and can't imagine driving a car without them.

Intake, and headers, and your vette turns into a whole new car.

They are a must-buy in my book.

Funny thing, I've always loved the "tinny" noise that headers make. I guess because it's the sound of "power."

I added Melrose LT headers w/hi flo cats...no noticeable difference in power/performance. The improved sound ( a pleasant growl) gives the ILLUSION of better performance

I did Kooks 1 3/4 Headers, X Pipe with hi flow cats, Callaway CAI, 160 thermostat; Dyno Tune by Cartek.

Results: 384.5 RWHP, 373.7 TQ. If you believe that most cars dyno at 340 RWHP in stock form, I picked up 44 RWHP. Car sounds noticeably more aggressive at WOT (actually, anything above 3500 rpm). I would not do cat back or cutouts. It is mere window dressing. Get something for your money; performance and sound with some headers.

Would I do it again? Yup!!

Had the car out last night in 65 degree air and it felt good.

Should have gone with the LG Pro Long Tubes. I picked up 26 rwhp and 39 rwtq and this was without a tune. Sounded better and performed much better. I picked up over .4 and 4 mph at the drag strip.

Plus 26 rwhp & 39 rwtq. I can feel it and it resulted in 1/4 mile improvement of over .4 seconds and 4 mph.

I went with the Kooks 1 3/4" headers and love em. Great sound and though I don't know how much power I gained, my Vette went .3 and 3 mph faster in the 1/8th mile. Only other mods were cai, cat-back and tune. I just bolted them and went to the track, no other changes. My guess is 20-25rwhp. Solid improvement IMO.

Had supercharger kit and Corsa Touring exhaust done at Lingenfelder and they said headers not worth the money it unless I wanted to get real wild. too much money for only about 8 hp . great package, wife loves it.

There's more than an 8rwhp gain, proven by the dyno's above. My .3 and 3 mph gains wasn't due to only 8rwhp. Headers won't give you 100rwhp like a blower or nitrous but 20-30rwhp (give or take), might be worth the money for some. Maybe it's reduced gains once you've tuned your car for an extra 100-150rwhp. That I could understand.
