2005 C6, My climate control readout is blinking on & off. Heat, a/c ok. If I take it to the dealer (which I've never done before) some mook who smells like mustard & swamp *** will drag his size 15's across my door plates. I'll never get the smell or the scratches out. If this is a code please tell me what it is. I do my own work. I'm just a little goofy about letting somebody else work on my vet.
Take it to your dealer. GM has a TSB saying they have to unplug some connector, wait 5 minutes and replug it. If that fixes it, good enough. If not they have to replace it. I had mine replaced.
I'm taking it in tomorrow, don't want to though. I'll let you know how I made out. Thanx for the wisdom. This car is unf***ing real. I'm a daily driver (weather permitting.) This ride makes you want to get up & go to work. This is my first corvette. I guess I got the fever. All I want to do is clean, drive & upgrade everything. This is a good site. Thanx again, dt.
I'ts terrible it has come to this but what else you gonna do?
ON DROP OFF, just be matter of fact like you do this all the time:
1. Show pics of inside of car, outside, underneath-rocker panels
2. show mileage
3. If you can bring jacking pucks or tell them to use jacking pucks to raise your car if needed
4. Dont sign anything unless you add the sentence to the effect that they will return it the same way you left it, or have to pay to make it right
5. anything else you can think of to cover yourself from shoddy dealer work
6. On pick up look over the car with the service rep and bring your camera and take pics with him watching to make sure.
Brought it to the dealer. They are ordering a new control head. I stayed with my car & brought it back home. I don't know man, these guys look like they roll around in the parking lot. I'm not down on the workers, but I was so warned about corvettes & dealers. I heard horror stories about bumper scuffs, improper lifts... I guess I just psyched myself out a little. If you see a 05-Z51-C6 with minor scuff damage up for sale, that will mean I got locked up. dt
I'm on my 5th Corvette over the past 17 years - have more than 400,000 miles in them and have had a Vette in 41 of the lower 48 states. As such I've had an alternator replaced in Tennessee, a water pump in California, oil changed in Florida, flats fixed in New York and New Mexico, stumbling problem diagnosed in Colorado, and other miscellaneous things around the country. These things are cars, they sometimes, like other cars, have problems.
I took my C6 in last week for some warranty work: clutch packs, axle nuts, raised carpet in the luggage area, creaking/popping top... everything was fixed, they did not tear up my car, nor did they deliver it with three ounces of grease in the seats - was not expecting them to, they didn't.
For Pete's sake, these guys work in 100+ degree weather on greasy, dirty, oily, broke cars, you expect them to look like kindergarten teachers? I expect them to look like mechanics and expect that my car is fixed and fixed right - always has been - this time was no exception.
These things are mass produced cars, not some one of a kind Fabergé egg; go drive it, enjoy it, and get it fixed when it breaks.
Thanks for the words of confidence, I appreciate it, coming from a real corvette guy. I waited a long time for this (just a) car. Guess I'm not done babying it yet. Like I said, not down on the workers, just heard some opposing stories. And eggs, well I like mine scrambled and Kindergarten Teachers, they wear tattoos now. 5 corvettes, damn, 5 corvettes. dt .)
