Default O2 sensor issue!

I have Dynstech LT headers a fter year, i noticed some thing wrong in the car(the car shake, the check engin light on , there is alot of black smoke in the rear ,spent a lot of fuel ,when i full the gas i noiced a lot of shake"i used 95 octan" the car dont run good at all)

i went to the guy who installed the headers, he do scan and told me one of the front o2 sensor not work .
but i think he dont know actualy where is the problem (the sensor or the extntion)
i ordered this extntion:
http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/prod...714801E63ED0B7
He told me it`s to short ! i dunno if they need to connect it with the stock o2 wire!!!
and he told me bring o2 sensor.

so where i can get the o2 sensor ?
can i order stock o2 wire to make connect with aftermarket extntion?
where can i find long 02 extntion?

any one have idea?

A couple of points -

Assuming you need an O2 sensor, the only place I know to get them is the dealer. Napa/Autozone, etc didn't show a listing for them. Admittedly, I only checked their online catalog, and they may be able to get them for you in the store.

Regarding the extensions, you can order them from numerous vendors, just make sure you get the front ones and not the rear ones, they are different. It is pretty easy to check the extension with a multimeter. Just take it off, pin it out and check continuity (resistance). Also look at the connections to make sure the wires haven't come out of the connector.

Good luck.
Cheers.

Thanks for the reply.

Do u mean when we installed the headers we used the stock O2 sensor?
(pls give me the site for that dealer)
About the O2 extension , when u installed headers do u used stock o2 wire to make connect with aftermarket extension that come with the headers? or u can make one long extension ?

For the dealer I was referring to your local Chevy dealer. Just pull one out of the phone book. As far as the O2 sensors are concerned, all 4 O2 sensors should have been reused on the new header/x pipe assembly. Most headers come with 2 sets of O2 extensions. One set for the front 2 sensors, and one set for the rear sensors. The extensions are idiot proof and only connect one way. Simply connect one end of the extension wire to the O2 sensor and then the other end tot he factory harness. Plug and play. Very simple.

since you weren't having any front o2 issue (i am assuming this), then after headers installed this issue happened, i will take a guess that the installer didn't route the o2 extension / wires out of headers way and at least one of the wires got burned. btw, all the headers comes with extension wires that are long enough. again my bet is installer error.

Mo-Shy,
I agree with both Toro66 and CBRF4i1. I just had Kooks installed last week along with hi-flow cats and Corsa sports exhaust. The Kooks came with the extensions for front and back o2 sensors. I strongly feel, as they do that the installer did not route the wires correctly and they burned. I hate to add insult to injury mo-shy, but I feel badly that they asked you to get the o2 sensors after this problem. I hate to slam a vendor I do not know but I feel he could have been more proactive with you the customer. Just my 2 cents worth. In any event, good luck and I hope you get it fixed soon. Let us know how it works out.

Any chevy dealer should have it. You can also likely get it from Gene Culley - a supporting vendor int he list to the left.
Cheers

That seems extremely strange to me. I know my local dealer here in va beach has them. They had to replace one of mine. I have a hard time believing any Chevy dealer can't get them

you really want to pull the trouble codes first to see if it is one side or both side that are burned. one of my friend has to buy one rear o2 sensor and the local dealership has them listed over $100. so, pull the codes first before you do anything. i know locally walmart sells the code reader for around $70. then jack the car up and get under the car to do a visual check yourself or someone that you really trust and knows a little about cars. who knows you might have another wire that is slightly touching the header and you might be able to save it. if it is the extension wire that is burned you will have to get them from the header manufacture. i believe they run around $70 a pair or some sort. again without been under the car and have not pull any of the codes, don't go around buying parts that you might not need. find out exactly what the issue is first.

btw, i got your email, i will have it taken care of today.

mo-shy, can't you take either the burned o2 sensor or the extension wire out and have someone that knows what they are doing repair / solder the wire? considering you are oversea it would be alot less trouble and costly.

You can also go to any local autozone and they will put their code reader on it for free and tell you what comes up.
Cheers.

If you're having problems, consider taking it to Zip Corvettes in Mechanicsville. No one in the Richmond area knows 'Vettes better than they do.

that o2 sensor will not work, the harness is wrong type. with you & your car not in the USA, you will have to just find a chevy dealer that will ship for you or have someone repair the burned wiresafter you get a obd II reader to verified the exact code. you don't want to start taking all kinds of pills without seeing a doctor for your sympton do you?
