Check over at LS1tech, I am sure I remember reading where someone installed the wrong spring and had to tear it out. I think the issue may have been too much pressure evacuating all of the oil from the pan (if that is possible); PLEASE don't take this as gospel, do the search.

Red is for high presure if you have changed the crank or added things like a larger cooler to the system.
White is for standard presure and high volume. Good for stock cranks, moves more oil and cools better.
