I installed a 170 t-stat. Believe it was a GM direct part.

If not swapping in a 160 degree t-stat I probably wouldn't even bother, maybe just reset the fans if you're looking to only drop coolant temps a few degrees.

I think the 160 will be too cold for me in the winter here in the NE. We have had a cool past few days and at nights my cruising temps were around 165. I think a 170 would be nice for the winter to get temps up a little.

True, I too live in NJ and my C6 did run a bit cooler last time I took it out (Saturday/Sunday).

I had a 180° stat installed with my CAI & ported throttle body giving a better dynamic for the tune. There's opinions contrary to the recent trend for 160° stats.

That's interesting. I have a 160 thermo, and my cruising temps are always between 178 and 180 year around, including when ambient temps were near zero. No problems with the heater/defroster whatsoever.

Perhaps you're currently running without any thermostat at all.

FWIW, I have seen several threads asking about 170 degree thermos, but never heard of one offered by a specific vendor.

Ecklers has a 170, it is a Vinci, sold only with the stat housing. I bought one, it only dropped cruise temp to the low 190s- not much change. BTW, if someone wants it, I'll let it go with the housing for $40.
