Default NPP Question

Can you install the GM NPP exhaust system after the fact? I picked up my 08 C6 last week but did not get the NPP option. After reading other post....sounds like I should have.

Don't see why they would not bolt in.

I installed the 08 NPP mufflers on my 07 and think this is really cool. Tips look good, quiet during cruise, and holy cow sound when the go pedal is pressed.

I just used manifold vacuum to operate the mufflers & this was the tricky part of the install. The mufflers themselves were bolt-in as the pipes are identical 2.5".

A Good Alternative To The Npp Would Be The Electically Operated Cut Outs. This Would Give An Open Exhaust Before The Muffler For Better Perfomance. This Is A Relatively Simple Install And Is Less Expensive. If Your In S.florida....horsepower Sales Of Pompano Is A Competent Installer,

slight clarification regarding bolting in NPPs on your '08 ...

While the NPP mufflers themselves should bolt right in to an 08, you will still need to find a way to get vacuum to them. Not sure if your 08 would have any unused piping to the back or if you would need to fabricate your own line.

Also, doing an after-the-fact bolt on, the computer isn't going to control them opening above 3500 RPM. You will have to use a switch. There is a thread where someone added the Z06 exhaust to their car. Looked like a fair amount of work to do it, and you still have to manually flip a switch for the exhaust to open up, but not out of reach if you are determined.

I did not want to start a new thread, so I thought I'll ride on this one...

Looks like I will be adding the NPP as a last minute option. My delima is how to give a positive spin of the NPP option to my wife. Giving her the extra 6HP or cool muscle car sound excuse will not work.

I was thinking just telling her the truth. It will save me gas because of less restriction on exhaust. Also that it extend the engine life since it does not have to work so hard.
Just in gas savings alone I can recoup the cost in 2-3 years.

What do you think?

You crack me up...

I would just tell her you want it and thats that.... yeah, that will work out ok.....

Really there is no reason to get it unless you want it a little louder when you rev it up. 6hp is all hype, I doubt that there is any gain, just good GM marketing.

I dyno'd my ls2 before and after the bi mode exhaust mod that I did and there was No gain at all, just sounds cooler and I have a trick open and close system.

To the OP, yes you can add the npp after the fact and add it to any c6 and still get full control and use of it, just not with the gm valve controller, you have to go aftermarket.
