Default '08 / LS3 Project - No Internals

Thought I'd just put out an outline of my project on my new '08 Crystal Red 'vert. I was looking to pick up most of the performance gains available with no serious compromises. E.g., no even mild cams, underdrive pulleys, etc, zero driveability issues or economy hits. I had an '01 Z28 'vert and I loved my TR224 cam, but under certain conditions, idle was a little flaky. And the underdrive was usually fine, but I got caught in traffic one winter night and was not comfortable with the alternator output with lights and hvac going. So based on that principle, here is what I've done/am doing to my LS3 motored Vette:

LG headers and cats
TR55 plugs
Magnaflow axle back
K & N "z06" intake
Vette Air scoop
Cory Harris ported manifold and Stage 2 throttle body
Royal purple in the M6 trans and rear
To be HP tuners tuned by me

The manifold and TB should arrive today and then I begin tuning. It will take me a few weeks to tune and get time to get to a dyno. I have been speculating where I am going to end up on a dynojet, based on all the reports out there so far. 440 rwhp seems a reasonable guess to me. Thoughts ?

Only other significant mods are my BBS wheels/PS2s and Elite thermal tunnel plate. I also have a set of Koni FSDs to put on at some point.

I feel like at the end of all that, I will have made an already incredible world class sports car and value a good bit better. Basically almost stock z06 power in a 'vert form, with improved ride and handling.

You and I have similar thoughts. I also had a 224 cam in my 01 Z28 and even though the car ran great, there were issues (cruise control affect plus I lost 2 mpg mileage).

So this time around I decided not to do anything to affect driveability on my 06 Vette. I've done the following:

1) Xcelerator inlet (Honker copy)
2) 160 stat
3) LG Long Tube Headers
4) Ported intake

I will get a tune, even though it's not absolutely necessary. The inlet, intake, and headers do not affect driveability plus they will increase mileage. The car runs great. I put out 334 rwhp stock (A6) and added 26 rwhp and 39 rwtq with the LG's. (360/360) I have not dynoed since doing the ported intake.

I decide no cam and no underdrive pulleys. I have been toying with the idea of going to the 04 LS6 cam which would give me another 15 hp for $250 and 8 hours of work.

Good luck.
