Default AR Headers+Corsa+CAI = cool

Just had AR headers with Corsa Sports & high flow cats installed along with Lingenfelter CAI & 160 t'stat by Vette Dr's. Had the whole thing dyno'd. Picked up more than 30 RWHP. FYI ... the car kicks a$$ above 3000 rpm. Under full throttle it's pretty loud at high RPM (a little scary, actually) but I like it. It pops on decel ... also OK by me. I can say this combo will not be for everyone.

FYI ... contrary to what some others have posted, this combo will create annoying sound in 6th gear on the highway at ~ 65 mph. Call it droning or not. At this point, the engine is turning in the 1500-1650 RPM range. I end up either driving a little faster or banging down into 5th gear to get the revs a little higher. I don't give a darn about the mpg. No problem as you move above 1700 RPM. As a side note, this droning thing will I think be a side benefit when I go 4.10 gears. With the gear change, at highway speeds, I should be revving above the annoying frequencies.

I just had the Corsa sports installed yesterday and they sure do scream at WOT. Your right, under heavy load in 6th gear they do drone a little with my Lg Lt's but I couldn't be happier with the Corsa.

with the a4 it was very slight but with the 373s its not an issue

This week I had Dynatech's installed with my Corsa Sport and K & N induction kit. No drone. Love how the headers improved the torque and high RPM power. Very crisp sounding in the upper RPM range. Almost race car-like. The interior sound level low RPM and cruise speeds is surprisingly quiet.

Congrats Mitch

Visiting the Vette Doctor was a smart move on your part...Carmen, Dennis and Joey have their stuff together.

I had a good experience with them. I had heard a rumor about someone else not having such a good experience. I suppose it is not possible to please everyone. They are not chatty friendly guys but I will say they really seem to know there stuff and did a great job by me. I will use them again. After I refill my bank account (ouch! doing Corvette mods is expensive!), I would like to go back and get gears done. Then, after another recharge, I'd also like to hit the cylinder heads, cam and porting of the intake. Not that I need the extra HP ... I am still pretty scared of what I have!

Mitch,
Glad you are happy with your mods. The car does sound awsome with this setup, that's for sure! I have Kooks headers w/hi-flow cats and the Corsa Sport cat back exhaust on my '07 A6 LS2 w/paddle shift. Had the car tuned as well.
I have a hefty amount of burble (love it!) but I have to say that throughout ANY rpm range in cruising speed from 30 through 80 MPH there is absolutely no drone whatsoever. Not sure why mine is different but I can tell you that I have had about 10 different people drive the car without telling them anything of what to expect. To a person they all said it so race car like and beutifull sounding yet no drone or loudness under normal cruising speed. Not bs'ing at all. Really not sure myself why some do and some don't but maybe it's a certain combination of mods/manufacturers that does the trick. In any event enjoy it and enjoy the new rear end gears! I just love this modding stuff!!! Good luck and be safe.

Fortunately, nothing shakes or rattles at the "problem" RPM. It is just that the exhaust acoustic frequencies are very low in a narrow RPM band and I find that a little annoying. Just driving a little faster or moving down a gear moves the frequency high enough to be, what I call, pleasant. I have already "internalized" the change and now work around the RPM band without even thinking.

I did the same with AR headers/cats, but used the Borla stinger and x pipe. GREAT sound!! Burbles, etc on decel sound great! Not for everyone.
Congrats.. enjoy the new found ponies and torque!!

Mitch,
Glad you are able to work around it as it's an awsome setup!

Default MAY SELL my Corsa Sports!!!

I have a C6 manual making 470 rear wheel HP with B&B headers, corsa sports with and without cats as well as corsa touring!! (I have 3 mid pipes - with cats, without cats, and touring conversion).

Let me tell everyone, before the cam and headers both the sports and touring were similiar - slightly louder than stock at idle. The touring being louder than stock when driven hard - more growl. The sports was a little louder in volume than the touring but significantly higher pitched wail!

With either sports or touring without the cats noticable increase in volume at idle and significant (maybe double?) loudness as acceleration.

Then headers made it even more louder.

Once the cam was installed, the corsa sports with longtubes without cats is obnoxiously loud at idle! It sounds like a higher pitched nascar!! No joke!! You can feel the exhaust pulses standing behind the car!!!!!

Basically, I am gonna sell my Corsa sports twin tips ($600) soon by this weekend - gonna try magna flow or flowmaster for a deeper sound. Sports sounded good without cam - but once cammed the higher pitched sound is too obnoxious at idle!!!

Interesting info. Someday ... I would like to do heads, cam and intake porting. I guess I will deal with the noise then. For now, things are good.
