'05 Auto gear selector adjustment
Has anyone adjusted their gear selector lever? Seems like when ever I start the car the gear shift lever is stuck in park because it has too much spring tension pushing it back towards the rear of the car. If I place my foot on the brake pedal and push the lever slightly towards the dash the locking prawl will disengage and allow me to shift into drive. This seems unusual and would seem to need adjustment so that the simple push of the brake pedal would unlock the gear shift lever and allow the driver to move the lever without the need to bump and jerk the lever in an attempt to find the correct unlocking position. Has anyone else had this problem and corrected it themself?

This situation happens no matter how the car is parked. In the garage on a level floor it still happens. It just feels and acts like the release mechanism that is activated by pushing the brake pedal is not releasing. As soon as I push the gear shift lever ahead just a little bit the lock releases and I can move the gear selector.
