Default XM to Sirius Conversion

Just took delivery of my first vette an 08 Black on Black , 3LT, Z51, Chrome, with Nav. Love it! However I cant stand XM's programming. I was wondering if anyone had tips on switching to Sirius while still using the stock components. I dont want to give up the no antenna look. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just did it a couple of days ago. Circuit city has the module on sale for $69 after rebate.

You actually do have a band button. On your screen where it says XM1 and XM2, that is what it is talking about. Direct replacement. Go for it.

All indication shows that (if FCC approved) XM and Sirius will merge very soon. It may be a futile endeavor to take any action now.

It is above the drivers side rear wheel. Just peel the carpet back and you can see it. It just pops out as in it is just clipped in.

That really depends. the XM signal through the factory radio is horrible. What I mean by that is it sounds like it only provides 50% power or something like that to the head unit. For example, if you were listening to XM and had the volume at 25%, when you switched over to regular radio, the volume would seem like it went up to 50%. Sirius has a full sound to it. If that is a matter of the xm module, the merger is not going to fix that. If it is the signal, and they ride Sirius' signal, shouldn't matter.

Adjusting the EQ will help quite a bit. It's put into memory so there shouldn't be that big surge in volume switching back and forth.

But - Have you listened to Sirius through the Corvette? It's the same, sorry to say. It's the compression that ruins it. Switching vendors will not help IMO.

I do agree that the entire sound system is lacking. Many people have switched out the speakers, the reciever/amp, etc.

Both Sirius and XM have said you will be able to choose the channels you what ala-cart following the merger. Changing from one to the other seems to make no sense when they will complete the merger in a couple of months.
