Probably been done a couple times before but I couldn't find any definitive information so here it goes. Which headers do you recommend for the best performance and sound? All input is appreciated.
Thanks,
David
There seems to be at least four S/S manufacturers and at least one mild steel. They all seem to give about the same HP/TQ and so far there haven't been many negative comments about appearance or fit. They main thing to look for would be price, then availability, then the question of how complete is the kit (all gaskets, clamps, bolts, O2 extentions and last but not least, Install Directions and photos).
I went with 1 7/8" Dynatech Supermaxx from Tbyrne and am happy with what I got.
I'm happy with my 1 7/8" Kooks, 3" x 2 1/2" X-Crossover and 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" Midpipes to stock exhaust after everything was said and done. We also got good performance numbers out of the mod. It is louder than stock but does not drone at any speed. I love the way my car sounds now.
I would get the headers on order soon because I waited 28 days for mine and once I received them they came with the wrong size midpipes. So I waited 5 days to get the correct part before my car could be finished. I did get a free tee shirt and ball cap out of the mistake
So when you are shopping around you may also want to factor in lead time to purchase the headers as well as the vendor's reputation for delivering the right thing first time and customer responsiveness. When I was looking, I wanted to find the cheapest with the best quality. I'll evaluate my selection a little differently next time. Do you research and use the search engine. There's a wealth of knowledge on this forum!
I just ordered my LG headers the other day and should have them within a few hours...
installing them tonight... along with the LAPD 3/8" thermo coated tunnel plate..
FLCARCLUB,
Kooks w/hi-flow cats, Corsa Sport cat back exhaust, and a tune. No drone, Great sound, lot of positive comments on the road and.... ALWAYS smiling. You are on the right forum for knowledge. This is where I got ALL info for making decisions. Also, there are many manufacturers that you will be happy with. IMO it's the "package" that is just as important or more than just one item. Good luck on your quest!
