I am very close to ordering an 08 convertable. But cannot untill i find a straight answer about this question. I have a very bad back and am trying to find out how the magnetic selective suspension stacks up against the standard suspension package in terms of comfort. in other words wich package has a softer ride, the standard or magetic in touring mode?? I drove them both but the roads were 2 smooth to tell the difference. If i could get an answer to this question i would really appreciate it
That's a lot like asking which exhaust sounds better, it's too subjective IMHO. With a bad back, the seat alone could be a contributing factor. A Google search produces a lot of info about Magnetic Selective Ride Control and Magneto-rheological Dampers, much of which are Corvette reviews. I have a base C6 and I cant imagine (or would want) a smoother ride... it is too "floaty" as it is. Very nice on the freeway but disappointing in the twisties.
I eventually went with Bilsteins HDs & Z51 sways and now it's about as stiff as I want to go, any stiffer and it would get annoying. Feels like a sports car now. I guess the MSRC would give the best of both.
To be honest, if your back is really bad then you may not want to get a vette. Just getting in and out could be a problem. You may want to get something with a cushy suspension. I rode a rigid frame Harley when I was younger and I had to stop because it hurt my back bouncing on the rubber tire. The vette's a little better.

I have chronic back pain and my Corvette (both the C5 and the C6) is the most comfortable car I ride in.
