Need Help Diagnosing a Clutch Pedal Return Problem
I had my car ('06 C6, MN6) in today at the dealership to have the seal at the rear of the transmission replaced because it was leaking small drops of oil when parked in the garage. It also had the diff oil flushed and a friction additive put in as well.
On the way home from the dealership, I got stuck behind a slow moving car. As I dropped it down into second to pass, the clutch pedal was VERY slow to return from the bulkhead as I accelerated.
I experienced no other unusual shifting issues for the remainder of the trip but there was a slight oil smell that never really left.
Is it just left over oil on the clutch plates that will wear off eventually or could it be something else?
I went out this morning to do the Ranger clutch fluid flush and found that the dealership had not added any fluid after the work was done so the reservoir had murky brown fluid a quarter of an inch BELOW the "low" fill mark
So that's PART of the mystery solved...
One more question (and it's a dumb one. Sorry...): is there a differrence between DOT4 and Super DOT4?

Thanks again!
Super DOT4 is DOT5.1, at least mostly.
Its sort of a long story, but there was a problem with people using DOT5 silicone fluid in systems that weren't meant for it, and that lead to a fear of DOT5 fluid. When non-silicone DOT5.1 fluid came out, some manufacturers preferred to call it "Super DOT4" in order not to associate it with DOT5 or confuse people further.
The GM Super DOT4 is fine, but probably no better than many other DOT4 fluids.
More than you ever wanted to know about brake fluid can be found here.

The clutch pedal has no relationship to the clutch packs in the differential. There is no oil on the clutch to wear off and that was not the sticking problem. There is a TSB on that. Do a search. The differential has clutch packs that the new oil must work into and will not wear off.
