Gotta love that kind of support provided by DTE! Makes me proud to be a two time customer of DTE (C5 and C6), I sure prefer to give my money to those that provide not only excellent products but excellent support.

No problem Tom, glad to help when I can.

The kit consists of a pre-fabbed, stainless steel braided Teflon high pressure hose with two female fittings crimped on each end and two other compression fittings that you'll attach to each end of the steel line portion of the stock slave cylinder hose. It's all there and pretty easy to install.

I included a copy of the APS picture instructions with it, in case you needed those too. I'm on my way out the door now to drop the FedEx Express Next Day Air Envelope to our local shipping hub personally, as our regular pick-ups for the day have already been here and left by the time you called. You should see the package Monday morning.

Have a nice weekend and good luck with your project!

Best Regards,
Phil

Wow! Thank you so much, you really went above and beyond for a total stranger for absolutely no gain. I can't say it enough... You rock, Phil.

Wow, that might be the best support from a forum vendor I've ever seen , and definitely much better support than I've had from APS

I can relate to the nothing ever breaks comment, I've kinda had that treatment from them myself.

Tom... What part of the line actually melted? TheAPS section or part of the OEM line?

Just curious as I am about to do my install and thinking if I should take additional precautions....

Bob, it was not the APS line that melted... it was infact, the OEM soft section covered with the orange APS fire jacket, covered in heat sheild wrap. It was so thick it was actually touching the manifold. If you have the braided APS line in, with at least some air space, you'll be fine.

Tom,
I had the same thing happen to mine (2006 vert), after only 3,000 miles. I had the same installer as you. It also happened to the red vert from N.Y. that was done just prior to mine. I had a custom hi temp braided line made. It was a pain in the neck to install. You have to cut the remains of the stock steel lines, and make flare fittings with no room to work. I run a Honda shop in MA, so I had a lift and all tools needed at my deposal, and it still took 8 hours. If you have any questions please call my cell (508)922-6690. Goodluck, Rick V

Rick, I recently learned that APS advised the shop not to use their supplied line, deeming it unessesary, and to just wrap the OEM line instead. I'm just suprised mine lasted so long...

Tom,
I bought my line from a company called Swagelock. The line is braided stainless, rated for 1500 PSI, and 500 degrees. To add further heat protection, I wrapped the line with hi-temp asbestos tape, and put a reflective foil cover over the asbestos that can withstand 1000 degrees. The line was 24", so I was able to route it above the exhaust manifold. It is now about 3" away. The other set up was touching the manifold, the same as yours. If you have any questions on the install call me.

That was an amazing gesture from Phil at DTE! Customer service at it finest! Goodluck on the clutch line install.

What happened?

I don't know if we have anymore back there in parts or not, but if we do, you can have it. Just call the office to find out for sure, as I don't come online here as much these days to check threads, due to our heavy work schedule.
