Default Installation instructions from replacing rear differential?

Does anyone have some good removal & re-installation instructions for doing a rear differential swap out? Just trying to get the facts together before I order the 4.10's.

C6 is pretty much the same ball game so my instructions will work.

With absolutely no disrespect intended towards Cajundude, his instructions were excellent but too much of it didn't apply to a C6.

When I did my car last week I started off with both the GM shop instructions as well as Cajundude's, but had to go it alone after it started to deviate too much from the C6 instructions.

I can e-mail you the GM shop instructions for a C6 if you'd like as well as answer any questions you might have as I just finished swapping out my differential, so feel free to write me if you'd like.

No problems here. I guess I've done too many of them now. C5/C6 they all look the same to me.

....but, out of curiosity, where did they deviate too much?

Off the top of my head, the shocks only need to be unbolted from the bottom, you don't have to do anything with the calipers, the A-arms don't need to be removed, the tunnel plate doesn't need to be removed and you don't have to disconnect the MAF.

That is correct about the tunnel plate and the air bridge (only for C6).
The C5 doesn't have near the amount of room the C6 has in the rear which allows you to slide the diff back.

You can unbolt the shock from the top or bottom. I do it from the top usually like the write up states so this is the same. I have never stated to pull the shock out for any reason.

I guess you must of cracked open your brake lines. If you don't feel like bleeding the brakes later, just pull the calipers off the rotor. Two 15mm bolts on each one and you are done. No bleed later

Christopher,..I may think "twice" now about the 3.15's{which I wanted alot} because too many folks think that a Vette which has been "modded",will not benefit with lower gears!
They say it will increase the "wheelspin"!!
What's Your take on this?

Changing the rearend on jack stands does not sound like much fun. Good luck.

I guess I'm just getting old and don't enjoy climbing under cars any more. I was going to change my mufflers out a few nights ago. I put the car up on the race ramps and front end on jack stands. As soon as I slid my old butt under the car I said WTF. The next day I drove up to Wong's performance and we put it on the rack and Tom installed 'em for me while we bs'd.

We only charge $250 and can do it while you wait if you schedule it in advance.

Cajundudes instructions work for either C5 or C6, only difference is we unhook the shocks from the bottom. We unbolt the calipers & hang them like he mentions.

Hang them with zip ties.
